“Great place to stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 4, 2013

Was a great place to stop off at whilst driving the Great Ocean Road. We were recommended a fabulous restaurant called La Bimba - you must go there. Clean, lovely, welcoming youth hostel. Nice open kitchen and shared living spaces. Fantastic to see so many eco initiatives being implemented. This place walks the talk.

Lovely place, run by a lovely couple. Spent the long weekend there fishing and golfing, nice, clean place with great facilities. Even a fish cleaning area out the back!
In winter, the place is very cosy with it's fireplace.
Will be back again.

My wife and I stayed here for one night.

It is located one street away from the main beach front road, and is a short 5 minute walk to centre of town.

We stayed in a double room with shared facilities. Room was basic but very comfortable, and had floor-to-ceiling windows and a balcony. It did get cool at night so we made use of the heater, which worked well.

Shared bathrooms were very clean, to the extent we did not feel like we were staying in a room without en-suite facilities.

Communal kitchen was 'shiny' new and had all possible utensils / gadgets - almost made you want to cook. Free herb garden outside had a variety of herbs to spice up our dinner.

Lounge on the ground floor had a real log fire, which gave it a very cosy feeling.

Room Tip: Second floor rooms feel more private and have balconies.

This accommodation is great for those who want to visit great ocean road. It is close to 12 apostles and has lots of eateries and beach nearby.
Most importantly, it is very organized and the staff are the best people I have ever met during my aussie trip.
They are helpful and thoughtful to customer.
We like this accommodation very much.

Stayed at the end of summer 2012/13 and expected the hostel to show signs of wear and tear after a busy season, but NO! The rooms were pristine, the staff were welcoming and eager to ensure we had a great stay, the kitchen and communal areas looked like they were brand new, and the gardens were tidy and well kept. I would have no hesitation in staying here again, and only wish we could've stayed longer. Everyone travelling the Great Ocean Road and staying in Apollo Bay should experience it too. Even had some tips from the manager about other places to visit on our travel.

I stayed here one night whilst driving the Great Ocean Road. If I had time I would have stayed longer. Clean, well laid out rooms, good kitchens, great showers. A cut above other hostels but for the same price.
