“A lovely and relaxing stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 12, 2011

I stayed at Peppers York Cove for a few nights. The amenities were ideal for what we required. The location is a bit questionable - it proved an issue for food during public holidays and the days when the restaurant was closed on Sun/Mon.

Room service is a bit early, as it commences from 9:30am. The lobby area to the rooms is a bit echoey, and there were kids staying, so it was a bit hard at times to have a good, relaxing sleep in. The room was nicely furnished, modern and sleek. The shower screen didn't seem too well designed though, the door was bigger than the gap available, so would slam each time on use.

The location is a bit isolated, no decent food places other than the local take out shops, and it is a good 45 minute drive to Launceston. We did a few trips to the surrounding wineries, which was amazing. The pool is kept at a nice temperature. I was surprised at the lack of BBQ area onsite. We had to go over to the other side of George Town to cook up some food.

Overall a nice stay.

I stayed with a large group and we had two 3 bedroom apartments. They were located side by side.

The apartments were modern, spacious and immaculate.

Each of the three bedrooms had their own full sized ensuite.

The beds and pillows were divine!

The kitchen was huge and fully equipped including dishwasher and fridge with ice machine.

There was a large living and dining area that lead onto a spaciousprivate balcony overlooking the water.

You could step out from your own front yard onto a walking track that went right around the water.

All furniture in the apartment was comfortable and modern. There was a flat screen tv with pay-tv channels, amazing auto-closing curtains and a great stereo with iPod dock.

The apartment had a full sized laundry with everything you would need.

The gym was excellent and the hotel was equipped with a nice heated pool and spa.

On Friday and Saturday night the restaurant really came alive (don't get a room near the restaurant on the weekend if you want a quiet night).

Overall, this really was a 5 star hotel and is great for luxurious weekend away or a longer stay.

We had a wonderful stay at this resort. Only 40 minutes from Barnbougle Golf Course. Staff were excellent particularly those in the restaurant area. Food was very good - chocolate indulgence dessert was excellent. Apartment was beautiful. Very spacious and well equipped with washing machine, tumble dryer. Great kitchen facilities - managed to make 4 pots of raspeberry jam and got the jam jars from the chef!! Great outdoor pool and spa. Enjoyed everything about our stay in George Town particularly this resort.

Accomodation is fine and worth it if you can get it at a discount - I wouldn't pay full price as if you are fussy about ultra cleanliness you would be disappointed. We have stayed twice now as family live close by. The bar/lounge area is comfortable and certainly gets my thumbs up. But the restaurant and the service is a bit disappointing and we no longer eat there, they are not flexible whatsoever and some of the meals have been sub-standard whereas at other occasions they have been delicious - too much inconsistency. They certainly need to do something about their restaurant staff - one would expect more from Peppers - starting with a smile would help . We did however, eat there on Christmas day this year as other family members had booked the lunch there and well basically we had no choice if we wanted to join our family for Christmas day!. The meal was brilliant and we fully enjoyed it but were disappointed that the price had gone up from when our family member originally booked with no forewarning.

Tamika (manager), was extremely welcoming, pleasant & helpful - even returned my diary by mail that I had inadvertently left behind. The spa room booked was what we would describe as 'very average'. We were expecting a jacuzzi type 2 person spa but it was just a small one-person spa bath. The ensuite whilst huge was very cold with only a small double heat lamp in the centre of the room and there were hairs & handprints around the room. Whilst bath robes & the usual shampoo/conditioner were supplied, there were none of the 'extras' you would expect from paying this amount of money, such as disposable razor, body lotion, etc. There were tea/coffee making facilities but no teaspoon & a half-used milk plus an unopened one in the fridge & we were surprised to learn that there were no onsite staff overnight. Whilst we were aware that the restaurant was bistro style, the food could only be described as 'pub standard'. Service was average with beer bottles brought to the table but not poured. The restaurant itself was very cold with apparently no heating which even the staff mentioned. It was a public holiday the next morning with only continental room service breakfast available till the restaurant opened at 11. The overall feeling of the hotel was contemporary but cold & well below what we are used to within this price range & would probably more suit a family for a short summer stay. We were very disappointed that we have had no response from the company regarding the feedback form.
