As one can determine from other reviews of the Bowerbank Mill B&B, the location is great and the Chimney Cottage is comfortable, clean and homey. However, my wife and I would like to focus our review on the warm welcome and gracious charm of Annie, the owner. From the moment we arrived, Annie went out of her way to ensure that our every need was met. Though Aussie through and through, Annie is fluent in French and cherishes her time spent in Paris. We had such a delightful time with her, we found it hard to leave and ended up having lunch together before regretfully hitting the road to Hobart. We can not recommend the Chimney Cottage highly enough!

Room Tip: Annie gave us a tour of all the rooms at the mill and all are equally fine

This is an absolutely gorgeous place to stay, with so many attractions on its doorstep. We only stayed for two nights, and wished we had stayed longer.

The Chimney Cottage is beautifully decorated and your every need is catered for - from blankets on the sofa to an extensive collection of DVDs available, along with toiletries and even perfume and aftershave, and of course, the fireplace and aforementioned chimney.

Breakfast, like everything else here, was prepared with such care and attention to detail. Lovely homemade jams and baked items, to go with those that were left for our afternoon tea. We were treated like friends staying, rather than paying guests, and Anne is so friendly and knowledgable about the area - don't bother getting a tour guide or picking up leaflets! You just need to talk to her.

Before we left we were treated to a tour of the rest of the building, since the rooms were epmty that morning, which we both found very interesting indeed - it's always nice to hear about the history of a place you're staying.

All in all - the best B&B we've ever stayed in. Thank you so much for your hospitality, we hope to visit again!

The owners made our stay in the 'Chimney Cottage' most enjoyable. The food was exceptional, especially the range of breakfast options provided. The accommodation was comfortable, clean and private. You could spend your entire time reading given the range of books available and the DVD's for night time viewing were a nice touch. Anne and JD were first rate hosts who were friendly and full of information about their property. JD provided us with an insightful tour of the remaining parts of the property and eagerly answered questions about this unique historical attraction. We had a great time touring the local area and will definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: Chimney Cottage suitable for couples and has a great open fire.

We loved the Bowerbank Mill. The building itself is beautiful and full of quirky historical interest. And we got to stay in the Chimney Suite, which meant we got to light and sit in front of a log fire in which the smoke went up and out of the six storey chimney!

Anne and J.D were delightful hosts. Very friendly, welcoming and full of local knowledge and tidbits. Anne's homemade condiments, served with breakfast, were delicious. It was the small touches like the wine and cheese on arrival, the perfume in the bathrooms, the unexpected afternoon teas, that made me feel I was visiting a true B n' B and not justbsomewhere someone with a spare bedroom had hung out a shingle.

The space we stayed in was full of delightful 'olde worlde' odds and ends. Every time I thought I had taken in my surrounds, I would spot something new and interesting to look at - books, paintings, crockery, knick knacks, etc. The canopy bed was amazing. I felt like I was in a fairy tale and it was one of the most comfortable mattresses I've slept on in a hotel.

The gardens were in full bloom, full of colour and buzzing with bumble bees and butterflies. Looking over the paddock of sheep whilst sitting in front of the open fire certainly met our requirements to escape the hustle and bustle of Sydney.

Would definitely return, but this time for at least four days. It takes that long to get the Sydney smog out and the fresh Deloraine air into one's lung..

Staying at the Bowerbank B&B was the highlight of our trip through Tasmania. We had both the Chimney and Meander cottages, both beautiful, filled with antiques and books. The rooms were clean, comfortable and well equipped. Our kids enjoyed the upstairs loft in the Meander cottage. We enjoyed the fresh breakfasts, afternoon snacks and sipping port in the evenings next to the fire (firewood supplied!). Anne was a wonderful hostess -- friendly, attentive and full of information about the property and the nearby attractions. She gave us a tour of the rest of the property and talked about the history of the building, plus recommended some great restaurants in town. We would definately stay there again!

Room Tip: I would recommend staying in one of the cottages.

The generosity of my hostess with the mostess (Anne) was so overwhelming. I stayed 3 fantastic nights. I was greeted by this lovely lady who showed me to my cottage called "Chimney", (olde worlde charm a classic!) it was warm and gorgeous, she walked me through the cottage, upstairs in the attic is where you find this gorgeous warm bed with electric blanket and spotlessly clean ensuite. I got a very knowledgeable run down on things to do, places to see and where to dine, whilst here in Deloraine and if you travel around Golden Valley stop at Longford for lunch or afternoon tea at JJ's you won't be disappointed. Anyway Bowerbank B&B what do I say, Anne severs you a delicious breakie with homemade jams, yoghurt, and preserves so yummy, you go to bed at night wondering what delights your gonna get the morning, suppers were also fabulous yummy homemade nibbles and the port (free of course) just what you need before retiring. Anne has a huge selection of great DVD's and CD's if you are not out traveling. Anne and her staff are warm, considerate and work really hard keep the Bowerbank looking fantastic (spotless). also take the opportunity to browse through the arts and crafts whilst you are in reception, they are fabulous. I would strongly recommend this B&B to all my family, friends and the wonderful people who read this review. Therefore what are you waiting for book it now and enjoy your stay.

Room Tip: If solo or a couple book Chimney Cottage, it has a huge open fire, its warm and very comfortable.

A fascinating stay is ahead if you choose the bowerBank mill. We stayed in the chimney suite which was very yesteryear and oozes history. Had the fire going and soaked in the atmosphere. A fantastic breakfast awaits you in the morning and a chance to browse arts and crafts at the reception. The whole deloraine area has lots to offer . Well done Anne !

Room Tip: Unfortunately no ghosts!
