“Modern comforts in historic building”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2012

Marvellous recent conversion of historic bluestone building into a very comfortable Bed & Breakfast with 3 guest rooms, in a quiet location just a convenient walk from town centre. Spacious bedroom with en-suite, very nicely decorated, as well as use of a common lounge/media room. Hosts were very friendly, and provided a great breakfast. Wished we could have stayed longer than planned! Only drawback is for any guests not happy with stairs up one level to the bedrooms.

Room Tip: All similar.

We stayed two nights at the end of our tour around Tasmania at the Bluestone Grain Store. The property is thoughtfully restored and decorated with lovely finishing touches by Helen and her husband Ron. Would not hesitate to recommend this B&B ( more like Boutique hotel) . We stayed in very good hotels all the way but none of them matched the level of care here. Breakfast was the best of any places we stayed at; from perfectly cooked omelet to eggs benedict , home baked muffins and home made jams. Ron made us the best latte . Will not hesitate to recommend .

Room Tip: Room 1 has a bath tub.

We kicked off our Tassie driving adventure with two nights here.

With their unintrussive yet warm manner, their loving ly restored grain store and their great cooking, Helen and Ron set the bar very high for the rest of our holiday!

We had our three children with us and they were comfortably accommodated. We didn't feel at all precious (though there were plenty of gorgeous things about). Helen had each of them mastering the pool table quickly and seemed to relish having a starving teenager to ply with her delicious pancakes.

Plenty of tips about local attractions and dining.

A lovely relaxing start to out trip.

the old grainstore, with plenty of beams has been lovingly restored by the owners and the rooms are wonderful. A friendly greeting and lots of information on local places to eat and then the explanation on how to use the first floor cinema (great) and the pool table on the ground floor. We were a foursome and had two super rooms and followed by a fantastic breakfast with lots of options included in the reasonable rates. The downstairs probably lets the place down as it appears not to know what it is but all is comfortable and the beds were great, as were the hosts.

Room Tip: don,t worry all are super - the first floor are best as there are stairs and heaving heavy cases is...

My husband and I arrived at the Bluestone Grain Store after a 3 hour delayed flight from Melbourne and Ron & Helen were very accommodating with our late arrival. We were shown around the property and the beautiful rooms. They recommended a restaurant in town that would still be serving dinner at 9:30 (Red Restaurant) which was very nice.

The room was spacious, with crisp white sheets on the bed, a comfortable mattress and pillows. The bathroom was spotless with a wonderful bath and nice white, fluffy towels.

We slept with the window cracked open, which I would not recommend as a property in the neighbourhood has a rooster who likes to wake up early! But apart from that, it was a really nice sleep.

The selection for breakfast was amazing, including home made jam from raspberries grown on the property. Nothing was too much trouble for Ron & Helen. Coffee was good too.

We continued on to Cradle Mountain Lodge and I would say that Bluestone Grain Store provided way better value for money.

Thank you Ron & Helen for making the start of our Tasmanian stay a great experience - just wished we had booked more than one night. We will be back again.
