“Run down”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed January 8, 2013

We stayed in a non powered camping site. The camp ground was bare and resembled a clay tennis court. It was eerily quiet. The bathroom facilities worked but were very tired and run down. The only time we saw a staff member was when we had just arrived and were walking around checking out where the toilets etc were. The staff member looked at us like we were intruders and rudely asked "what are you doing?" In an accusatory and rude manner.

Th games room had a broken piano and a TV. Not at all inviting.

We won't be returning unless there is a change of ownership and renovation.

The Seaview is a paradox. It is a motel, but has no registration desk on site ( you have to visit the Silver Sands coffee shop for that), it used to have a restaurant, but it's closed. It is also a camping ground with both powered and unpowered sites available. The site has toilet and shower facilities for the campers. The motel has rooms to rent, most of which are quite comfortable and clean. Although avoid the single room (room 5?) on the north side down stairs, it was flooded several months ago and is Very musty.
The Seaview projects a slighlty run down air probably due to the lack of an on site owner. I had to take the shower head off and remove some sand to get it to flow, and the battery in the fire detector decided to run low on my second night, and uttered little slow beeps till I got up and removed it. However, once these were fixed the shower was great, and the sleep quality quite good.
The Seaview lives up to it's name, it has a good view to the sea, a games room and 2 'camp kitchens' where food can be stored and prepared if you wish.
This is NOT a multi star resort, it's sort of a not very up market back packers, but if that's what you want, it's really quite OK ( after you've fixed the shower, aired the room and pulled the battery out of the smoke detector).
Being 2 blocks back from the ocean, it is reasonably quiet, and an easy walk to all of the towns facilities.
One find was the local RSL/Bowling club where they cook a full roast meal every Friday night, nad have small bar with hapy hour from 5.30 to 6.30pm. A more congenial and friendly group I am yet to meet, and they made our stay very special.
Another find was the Sea Life Centre a restaurant with a shell museum and store. The food was good, the view spectacular, and the little shell/trinket store quaint.

Room Tip: Avoid the lower rooms on the northert side, they are very musty
