“Good but some limitations”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 16, 2013

These are situated on the outskirts of Bicheno and there are motel rooms and also some bigger units.
The outside of the motel is quite attractive, in contrast to the stark, almost clinical accommodation inside. The motel rooms are immaculately kept- clean, tidy and well maintained and appear to have been refurbished recently. There is a large double bed, storage space a comfortable settee, TV, a small fridge and a kettle and a workbench style table with chairs. There is little equipment , only a small fridge and kettle, not even a toaster, but the owners will offer to sell you breakfast. The bathroom is very spacious and has an excellent shower enclosure. The dividing walls are thin so there is quite a lot of noise transmitted between the units and breakfast is delivered from 07.30 so don't expect quiet or a lie in. There is at tiny swimming pool and a BBQ area.

Room Tip: The bigger units are self contained - but the 'sea view' form them is rather optimistic. Ro...

This motel is the perfect location to visit the east coast of Tasmania. Clean rooms. Good and clean bathroom. Very friendly and helpful staff. To the point touristic information was provided. Microwave would be useful (although the lady of the house kindly heated our meal in her personnal microwave).

The motel is pretty set in a beautiful garden, and the rooms have recently been renovated, so they look nice. But....we found the rooms noisy, you could hear anyone speaking in the next room or in the parking lot. The bed was hard and the pillows need replacing. They advertised free wifi in the rooms but we had to stand in the parking lot to pick up the signal. It was not strong enough in our room to even pick up email. This is a pet peeve with me as we book where wifi is available, and when it doesn't work I find it very annoying. The hosts were accommodating and friendly. The location is good, within walking distance of restaurants and beach.

Room Tip: If you need wifi book a room close to the office.

We were very impressed when we drove up to check in, the motels are beautifully maintained with lovely old verandahs and a colourful garden. Unfortunately we didn't get to stay in the motel though as we had booked rooms with a full kitchen which was a more modern unit. Everything was clean and well organised, lovely bathroom and comfy bed. I am very fussy about sheets and loathe synthetic fibres, these sheets were good quality. The owners are very helpful and cheery souls. We hope we get a chance to come back sometime.

Stayed at this motel for the night of 29/10/13. Motel has a few years on it but is clean and comfortable. The breakfast is good value at $6.00 and staff were helpful. The motel is some distance from the township so a car is a necessity.

Wintersun was a great little motel that we stayed at in Bicheno. Well maintained, clean and very comfortable. Central location in town, everything was a stones throw away, and the penguin tour guys collected us from our motel door. Breakfast was delicious and the hospitality was outstanding.

Thanks guys Maree & Graham Blines x

Sadly only had a 1 night stay in a very clean and comfortable large room with a balcony to enjoy the sun, also had a smaller but equally clean and comfy room for other family members. Great value breakfast and the most beautiful garden setting. A short walk down to beach to see the penguins come in just on dark. Memorable stay.

Room Tip: Room 11 is wonderful for a couple.
