“Sandpiper Ocean Cottages - the perfect getaway holiday”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 27, 2011

Sandpiper Ocean Cottages is on my list of highly recommended places to stay.
The friendly atmosphere and service could not be faulted. The attention to detail was first class and much appreciated . . . I'll be back.

I stayed in the Sandpiper cottage for 3 nights with my three children aged 7,8 and 15yrs old and we found the cottage to be perfect in every way. We loved the location, being only 7kms out of town and being metres from a beauitful white sandy beach which really is secluded. The cottage itself is extremely well fitted out with everything you could possibly need in a self contained cabin and then some; including complimentary port, biscuits, glad wrap, foil, cooking oil, mini bar and I would be amiss if I didn't mention the fabulous breakfast which is provided, cosisting of a dozen fresh eggs which come from their own chickens, a loaf of fresh bread, 2litres of milk, butter and margarine and a large assortment of cereals and jams, honey, peanut butter etc. Washing powder is also provided for the washing machine and there is also a dryer. Wood is provided for the log fire, which we lit every evening and believe me when I say it warms up the whole cottage in no time and creates a wonderful cozy atmosphere. There are plenty of books and magazines to read as well as a couple of board games and a great selection of dvd's are available from reception. A hairdryer is provided in the bathroom as well as a gorgeous smelling bodywash/shampoo in the shower. I must also mention that one of the first things I noticed when we walked into our cabin was how clean it was, I mean this cabin was immaculate.

The service was spot on and Kyle and Tony are wonderful and go out of their way to accomodate your every need.

Congratulations to you both for providing such a fabulous place to stay.

Based upon previous Trip Advisor reviews, we stayed here for a week in April - using it as a base from which to explore eastern Tasmania and Freycinet NP. It was a great choice. The cottage was spacious, well-equipped for self-catering, and centrally located to permit exploratory rambles up and down the coast.

The cottage was remarkably clean given the rural setting, and the free use of the various "beach toys" was an added bonus. The beach really is spectacular - nary a soul to be seen for miles.

Staff/owners go out of their way to be accommodating. They even arranged an outdoor movie one night for the assembled guests. This is really a terrific place, and the location was ideal for our purposes.

What a fantastic place.
The cottage is great, very roomy and comfortable. 2 bedrooms, lounge room with 2 sofas and large dining table, plus a fireplace. Balcony with outdoor table. Full kitchen, and a washing machine + dryer. Everything you need.
The place was *meticulously* clean, cleaner than most 5 star hotels i've stayed in.
Nice and quiet, most of the time all you can hear is the sound of the ocean. We were quite happy to just relax in the cottage a lot of the time, reading a book and enjoying the peace.
The place is a 5 minute drive from Bicheno, nice small seaside town. Definately make sure you do the penguin tour! Really great experience.

We stayed for 3 nights. It is so tranquil and relaxing. The cottages are fully equipped with everything you need, ours had 2 bedrooms and beds for 5 if needed. The kitchen had everything, there is even a laundry, which we found most useful as we had been travelling for a week. There's a flat screen TV, lounge and dining area, and a verandah with a gas bbq all ready to go. Even though there are two other cottages, we didn't even see or hear the other people, it is the perfect place for a quiet rest. The breakfast was just right too, we liked the fresh eggs delivered daily, bright orange yolks, free range. There's also wifi connection, which was great for our IPhones. And the beach is amazing, pure white sand, the bluest water, and not a soul in sight. At dusk the pademelon kangaroos came out and were just metres from our balcony, absolutely beautiful to see them in their native state. The hosts were very ready to provide whatever we needed, they had mountain bikes, beach boards, stacks of towels, beach umbrellas etc. And they were very welcoming, nothing was too much trouble. Thanks Tony and Kyle for a terrific stay - we'll be back!

Idyllic stay at Sandpiper Cottages - definitely one of the key highlights of our Tasmanian holiday. The location is just perfect, just metres from the most beautiful white, long sandy beach with not a soul to be seen. Your own private beach. We had some great, long walks along the beach. The cottages themselves are fantastic. Very private and peaceful locations situated in amongst beautiful, well-cared for gardens. Cabins are extremely well laid out and well appointed, everything thought of right down to the fresh breakie provisions. The sound of the ocean as you drifted off to sleep was just so cool. Tony and Kyle are awesome hosts and immediately made the three of us feel right at home and gave plenty of advice on what to see and do. They both put a lot of effort and hard work into making our stay a fantastic one. We cannot fault Sandpiper and will return very soon.

Sandpiper is located 7km from town but on a fantastic beach. Service was great and the condition was good. Rated the bed a B.
Positives: beachside, kids loved the chickens, pademelons (think small kangaroo), garden aspect, birds, fresh eggs (a winner), good fireplace, could sleep 6, well equipped for self-catering. Fairy pengiuns in Bicheno town were also popular.
Negatives: you need a car.

Families should stay.
