“Very Nice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2011

Our inn host, Chris, was great. The hotel was very nice, with tasteful room décor and nice towels. We had an ocean view from our balcony. A tasty cooked breakfast was included in our package, prepped by Chris, with some ingredients coming from the kitchen garden. There is free WiFi in the dining room.

Room was clean and comfortable. Staff were very friendly and accommodating.

Our expectations were met for a one night stop over to see the penguins before moving across the Island.

Located a little away from the town centre, the Seaside Inn is a pleasant place to stay for a night or two. The meals served in the restaurant are tasty but not outstanding. Rooms all face the ocean & are a great size. Probably only fault is that the bathroom is a little pokey & could do with a revamp

The hotel's location, overlooking the water, is lovely. The room was appointed well and bath was fine. But there was a connecting door into the next room on the brick wall behind our bed. It must have been a hollow closet-type door because we could hear all the conversation in the next room. The people were laughing and partying. At 10:30 I banged on the door and they immediately went quiet, however, we could still hear coughing and even breathing as though they were in the room with us. The next morning we told the innkeeper who simply shrugged and didn't seem interested in our comment.

Thank you for the response and we agree, the connecting door was an issue. However we have now taken the interconnecting door out and replaced it with a standard wall with sound proofing. Since then we have had no issues.
Again thanks for the feedback and hopefully we see you on KI again soon.

As part of a 5 day tour, our group spent 2 nights at the Seaside Inn at Kingscote. Everyone was pleasantly surprised to have rooms with excellent views of the ocean, were tastefully decorated, spotlessly clean and beds comfortable. Owners Chris and Alex couldn't do enough to ensure every member of our party were well looked after. Dinner in the restaurant was enjoyed by everyone in the group. Chris assisted to help organise our group's excellent experience of the Island and we'd highly recommend their motel to others.

2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 26, 2011

My husband & I stayed here for one night, one night too many. When we checked in, the guy behind the reception desk was more interested in getting us to spend money in the restaurant for dinner and breakfast the next day. There was no mention that our room included a full breakfast! The room was good, plenty of room and the views were very nice. Unfortunately the bathroom was very small and to my horror "a shower curtain"! Of all the motels were stayed in on our week long trip, this was the only room that had a shower curtain. I haven't seen one of them for years and thought they were well & truly outdated. As for privacy, well there was none! We had kids from the rooms either side of us looking in through the window all afternoon until I closed the curtain which also closed the view. We could also hear talking in the room next to us and when we went to bed I could hear snoring all through the night. We had dinner in the restaurant which was quite nice but a little over priced for home cooking. We eventually got our "free full breakfast" the next day after the owner made well & truly sure we weren't ripping him off. Breakfast was disappointing, ordered fried eggs & bacon - got two eggs, one slice of toast, two tiny strips of bacon & a 1/4 wedge of tomato! I've had better! I found the staff were more interested in getting as much of our money as possible than making sure we had an enjoyable stay.
