“Close to the beach and self contained comfort”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2012

Out third night was free. All you needed to self cater, stay clean and sleep well provided in tariff. Gym hours ridiculous. Pools plentiful. Location central in Trinity Beach area

Room Tip: rooms on any floor ok as there are lifts. ask for one that faces the lagoon

Hi Theresa

Thank you for your feedback and we are glad you enjoyed your stay. We are sorry that the gym hours (8am to 6pm) did not suit. These hours are dictated by the Body Corporate and are necessary to allow time for cleaning and maintenance. Also for health and safety reasons it is necessary to close the gym at 6pm to ensure availability of on-site response in the event of injury.

We hope you will be able to visit us again in the future.
Kind regards
Management

Blue Lagoon Resort is a great place for families or for those simply looking for an easy straight-forward getaway. Couples might find the age of many of the guests a little testing. The resort is only 200 metres from the beach, which is patrolled and has flags for safe family swimming. This may not be possible all year round so you should check before you book if beach swimming is what you are after. The resort does have three pools, though only two are really useful for swimming. The main pool is very popular and has limited shade. The 'second' pool is much is less popular and we thought much nicer. But it is horses for courses. The third (a lap pool) is away from the main buildings that make up the resort and is purpose built (unsurprisingly, for doing laps!).
We (my wife and seven year old daughter) had a great time using the pools and going back and forth from the beach (and getting ice creams). For those worried about eating too much ice cream there is a tiny gym with an exercise bike, rowing machine and treadmill. Because the resort is self catering you will need to get supplies. There is a ‘tiny’ general shop near the beach but it is very very expensive! Save your money and take a 10 minute walk to the ‘proper’ shops up the road from the resort. Here you will find an IGA supermarket, baker, butcher, newsagent, chemist, video, and liquor store (and more).
There are some very very good restaurants right next door to the resort (Lime Tree, Blue Moon Grill and Bangkok Rose Thai restaurant) and others just down the road on the beach (Lunico Trattoria and Chaintis Pizzeria).
We travelled to Cairns and to Palm Cove using the local public buses, which come every half an hour (Monday to Friday) and every hour on weekends. It’s about $10 return into Cairns for an adult. Our daughter loved the Muddy’s Playground and Lagoon (free swimming pool) in Cairns. The former is purpose built adventure playground for young children and it makes a nice change from sitting around the pool!
For a change we also walked (approximately 15 minutes) to Kewarra Beach, which is north of Trinity Beach. The beach is much more sheltered and calmer than the one at Trinity Beach, though the beach was not patrolled the day we went.

6 of us stayed in a 3 bedroom unti here for 5 days. The rooms were comfortable although one was very small.
The units were well equipped but the seating only really allowed 4 people to be comfortable on the 2 seater settees.
The complex was somewhat noisy at times as sound seemed to echo between the buildings at night which could be a problem in high season when there were a lot of people about.
The apts have nice swimming pools and comfotable seating available.
Overall Trinity Beach is a rather unexciting location with little to do other than walk or swim.
I think a car is a must, otherwise you would be better off in Cairns where you can walk to most things and the Esplanade development can be enjoyed by everyone. You also have access to the Botanic gardens, the museum and art galleries etc. There are virtually no shops at Trinity Beach so beware!

Room Tip: All the units have some sort of view either over the lagoon or the swimming pools. Some of the downst...

Stayed here for 6 days and was sad to leave. Reception are real 'go getters' and have old fashioned great customer service, always a winner for me.

Really spacious balcony on the apartment, it also had shutters which was nice to relax outside at night in privacy.

Other guests I chatted too all said the same thing and were amazed at the value for money for other comparably marketed hotels.

Fantastic Thai restaurant located about 80 meters from resort. Try a seafood bangkok noodles.

We stayed with my extended family at the Blue Lagoon for 10 days. It was an enjoyable stay. We booked a 3 bedroom apartment. It over looked the lagoon with gorgeous views. The layout of the room was excellent with plenty of room for the 6 of us. It was also really quiet on this side of the resort. Spent plenty of time in the pool next to the lagoon. There is also a lap pool which was solely for lap swimming. No kids doing bombs like at other resorts.
Limetree cafe on the corner makes a wonderful coffee.
Overall, I'd highly recommend this resort to everyone.

Room Tip: Ask for the rooms with the Lagoon view. Away from the main service road and a lot quieter.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Blue Lagoon Resort. The people working there could not have been more helpful- from the ladies at reception booking tours and giving us advice, to the gardeners who were friendly and did a great job of keeping the resort looking fantastic, lush and clean, we highly recommend staying here. Trinity Beach itself was beautiful, relaxing and had some great places to eat. We will definitely be back soon!

Room Tip: We had a studio room on the ground floor in Block 2. Ask for a walk-out deck if there is availabilit...
