“Superb accommodation close to a world class beach and attractions with genial onsite and helpful staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 19, 2009

My wife and I had a really lovely long weekend at Osprey Apartments. Adjacent to beautiful Mooloolaba Beach and a host of excellent restaurants, Osprey is ideally located in the heart of a popular holiday destination. The complex is well managed with particularly helpful and friendly staff and we would highly recommend the facility to anyone visiting the Sunshine Coast.

Osprey apartments are ideally situated just across the road from the Mooloolaba sea front and only a couple of minutes walk from the sea front cafes, restaurants and boardwalk. The building is attractive, well maintained and modern with well tended grounds and a very nice pool / jacuzzi area. Secure basement parking with one space per apartment is accessible by lift with a handy visitors car park at street level.

We had a two bedroom ground floor apartment with front and rear patio areas. The living / kitchen area is huge, well equipped and colourfully decorated with extremely comfortable furnishings and a colourful surf / beach decor theme.

The main bedroom has a TV and had a walk in storage room and en suite toilet / shower room. A separate toilet and bath / laundry room made this an extremely comfortable and pleasant accommodation choice for 4 adults and would be ideal for a large family with a sofa bed included in the living area.

First impression was great - friendly reception and spacious apartment. It was clean, wide bed in main bedroom and en suite shower. Twin beds in second bedroom, second family bathroom, two balconies, dishwasher and laundry facilities. These apartments are individually owned and we didn't get leather settees or a library but did have a dvd player. Second impressions marginally less favourable as there were a slightly inadequate number of clothes hangers, the egg slice still had some dried egg on it, there was only one heater (we had cold weather), a large fan restricted the hanging space available and it was difficult to get a decent temperature on the shower. (Do thermoststic showers not exist in Australia?) The gym was dreadful - airless and cramped. However these are minor quibbles, the basics were right.

Swimming pool is below ground level and the walls trap the sun so we were able to swim in the evening.

Net access expensive as it is everywhere in Australia - really should be included in quality accommodation.

We went to Australia Zoo using their complimentary transport. The bus stop is a longer walk than reception staff suggested but it was helpful as we didn't hire a car.

I am a very light sleeper and wasn't bothered by road noise but the sound proofing between apartments wasn't brilliant - coul be a problem if there had been higher occupancy.

There are lifts and a rubbish chute with some limited recycling facilities in the basement.

Free daily paper was good, a library in reception would have been nice - I'd have left a book there if there had been a bookshelf.

One tip - if you take a local bus a return ticket allows you to get on and off anywhere during the day - reception staff didn't mention it and we found out too late to help us. Bus drivers can be very grumpy if asked to provide change.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. we appreciate the feedback. On further investigation into the comments re heating, the apartment you stayed in had full reverse cycle air conditioning which heats and cools.
You only needed to request more coathangers and we could have provided them for you. Many of our apartments do have books in them but as they are all individually owned this varies from one to another.
Unfortunately our reception area is not large enough to hold a library of books.
Kind regards

It was a real pleasure to arrive at the Osprey Appartments after a 24 hour flight! We had booked a Garden View room, however we still had a sea view, even though we were on the ground floor which was lovely. The two bedroomed appartment was clean, modern and quite luxurious. Great location too, only a couple of minutes walk to all the restaurants/shops as well as great walking/running paths along the sea front. The swimming pool/spa was lovely and very clean. The only negative comment would be about the so called gym.. basically a very small room, no windows and poor equipment. We would definitely book up at the Osprey again!

We had an ocean view upper floor 2 bedroomed apartment . A very well appointed apartment with main bathroom & ensuite so 2 couples can share very comfortably. Large dining area with well equipped kitchen; full laundry facilites. Best of all - great views right along the coast from the balcony which we made good use of. Lovely gardens & pool/bbq area, too. Great location for travelling to all the sights & attractions. Reception staff very friendly & a complimentary daily newspaper, too. Would recommend to anyone!

We arrived at Osprey apartments with high expectations, after reading the glowing reviews on Trip Advisor, and were certainly not disappointed. Our apartment on the 4th floor was spotlessly clean, extremely spacious and boasted wonderful views of the beach across the road. The kitchen was very well equipped, we wanted for nothing, and i was impressed that the owners seemed to have thought of everything and catered accordingly. No scrounging around for non existent peelers, graters, or chopping boards (as i have experienced often when staying in other apartments), they seemed to have thought of everything. The furnishings and decor were tasteful and comfortable, especially the new leather lounge suite in the main living area! Impressive large flat-screen tv in the main lounge, plus smaller ones in the reading area and main bedroom - the teenagers were very impressed, no squabbling over what to watch! Thoughtful touches such as a mini-library of books to choose from, as well as board games for the occsaional rainy day. Air conditioners and ceiling fans in both bedrooms as well as the lounge was also appreciated. I truly felt like i was in a 'home away from home', and the owners of this particular apartment have not skimped on quality or quantity of furnishings and appliances. Also impressive was the huge amount of wardrobe and drawer apace, plenty of room for everything to either hang or be put away in drawers. We have stayed in places past where there is a squabble over space and only enough room to hang about 3 shirts, so this was lovely. Was also nice to have a mini private balcony off the main bedroom, as well as the one out front. The pool, gardens and surrounds are meticulously kept, and managers friendly, helpful with a 'nothing is too much trouble' attitude. We requested our linen be changed halfway through our stay of 10 nights, and this was done without the slightest hesitation, despite it being just before the Easter break. We would stay here again without a doubt and request this same apartment. Friends travellng with us stayed in the apartment opposite, which was not quite as large (we had an extra sitting/reading room in ours) and the decor in our apartment was slightly better in my opinion. There was plenty of room for us to spread out and find our own space, and not have to live in a tiny cramped apartment for 10 days (done that before, not a pleasant experience with teens!). Only one criticism - it cost us $50 for a week to have wireless broadband access, which i think is a bit steep - many places now provide this free of charge (we had no choice but to pay it, as the homework still had to be done over the holidays). Lovely accommodation made for a wonderful family holiday, can't wait to go back.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2009

I stayed at Osprey in April 2009 with my 2 girls, 12 and 10. We immediately liked the apartment as it's visually very attractive when you walk in. and comfortable We paid a bit extra to have an ocean view and so were on the second floor with a two bedroom apartment looking out onto the esplanade and the ocean. It was worth the extra money as the view is fantastic. The apartment was spacious, with a huge kitchen, lounge and dining area and lovely balcony. The main bedroom was a good size, with a TV and it had an ensuite and walk in robe and there was a second bathroom (with laundry facilities in it) and a separate toilet. the second bed had twin beds and was fine, if a little small. I guess my only complaint was that I was completely surprised there was no airconditioning in the lounge/dining room area, only in the bedrooms. I believe some apartments have aircon throughout though so it's worth checking with the resort before you book if this bothers you. If you have an ocean view apartment the lounge area can be extremely hot in the morning as the sun hits the lounge windows well until noon, and we had to ask for some fans to cool down. I think the website could have been a bit more detailed about the fact that not all apartments have aircon throughout - it would be unbearable in high summer especially with the humidity summer brings. In the afternoon it's not a problem as the sun moves to the other side of the apartment block. The pool is lovely and the gardens around the apartments are well maintained. There's a fantastic covered BBQ area near the pool with good BBQs and tables to sit. There is a little bit of noise at night from some cars who seem to like to hoon up the Esplanade on a Friday/Sat night, but other nights it's not too bad. I would recommend this place for a lovely peaceful stay. Mooloolaba generally is fantastic, and a very acceptable alternative to Noosa which is still lovely, but I must say I preferred Mooloolaba. It has heaps of restaurants on the Esplanade at every price range and choice, and some lovely shops. Jetskiing is an absolute must, we did it twice and it's awesome. The aquarium is also excellent and definitely worth a visit. There's lots to do if you're so inclined, or you can just laze by the pool or go to the excellent, well patrolled beach. Enjoy!
