“Great long term stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 week ago

My third trip to Mooloolaba Backpackers great to see it still has the friendly & sociable atmosphere it has always had. Barry and Linda the managers are doing a superb job in making sure all guests have a fun and joyful stay any issues or questions you have you can ask them for advise or the walk up to reception to speak to lovely Shannon or Emily.
The backpackers has and is still going through maintenance improvements which is great to see they are keeping on top of things to give you a clean and pleasant stay.
Lots to do at this place an event is help each day, close to the beach and river, free paddle boards with an instructor to teach you, free surf boards, free new bikes, fishing, free BBQs and breakfast every morning.
Last but not least the staff are great and very friendly as soon as you walk in you will be invited to come socialise and take part in any daily activities that is going on :)))
See you again soon, Ben.

At the moment my favourite hostel in Queensland. Could use a few improvements but very worthwhile for a short term stay. The beds are comfortable, there is a great common area, the staff are knowledgable and very willing to help you, and there's a kitchen/common room on every floor so it doesn't get too busy. The pool is also well maintained, and its in walking distance to just about everything, including the bus stop, beach, diving schools and Underwater World. It also has a free breakfast, which is always a bonus.

The downsides would be the lack of wifi, the smell from the kitchens becomes very strong in the evenings, the bathroom floor was always dirty (though not from lack of cleaning, but people treading in constantly from the beach), and the room only had 2 plug sockets (one of which was reserved constantly for the fan) for 4 people. There's also no lockers or storage in the rooms - I was sharing with 2 other people and things were thrown everywhere for lack of option.

I wouldn't stay here for a long term trip, but for a short holiday/stay you wont find a better deal in Mooloolaba.

I had an amazing time here! The facilities here are outstanding, free surfboards, bodyboards bikes and the best thing the FREE STAND UP PADDLE BOARDING! The instructor was outstanding! A company over the river charges $25 per hr. Mooloolaba is a little hidden gem that a lot of people miss out on. The backpackers is situated about 700 meters from the beach and restaurants shops ect. There is a conveniently placed BWS & Fast food joints over the road for those returning from a great night out - Mooloolaba Backpackers have some close relationships with the local clubs = Free entry & 1/2 free drinks! $3 on a thursday at the warf!

The hostel itself has a nice relaxed homely vibe. The staff are super friendly just what you need after arriving after a long days traveling. The staff seem to work hard to keep the hostel in top condition, the rooms, bedding and everywhere was well cleaned daily. The pool is even cleaned weekly ( im not sure most hostels do this!?!) Free Brekkie is a bonus also! I can happily say Mooloolaba backpackers is the best place ive stayed on the east coast. Oh and i forgot to mention about the movie nights, free pool table and free BBQ on a tuesday! the list is endless.

I would highly recommend this place - Great Location, Great People, Great Vibe. I didn't want to leave!!

Room Tip: There is a 9:30 Noise Curfew that is unforced by the local police. There are staff on night watch th...

Short walk (700m) to the beach and shops (Boutique shops and restaurants and other accommodation and even car hire). Lots of restaurants 100m away. Lots of activities happening on the beach. Nice beach with lifeguard. Can watch beginner surfers doing their thing in the morning or have a dip in the Pacific Ocean yourself. Good covered places to seat and enjoy the scenery and smell the salt in the air, and enjoy the atmosphere. Plenty of sunshine. Backpacker is good value for money. Reasonable breakfast. Friendly staff. On bus routes to other areas of the Sunshine Coast. Bus stop right in front.

Room Tip: Be prepared for some untidiness in the living quarters as there are some longer term rentals.

The hostel is decent enough, the room I was in was clean and bright. The free breakfast was a bonus as I didn't know about this before booking. Mooloolaba is a gorgeous little town with a stunning beach and is definitely worth a visit. The only downside to the hostel, in my experience was the tiny kitchen (I think there are kitchens in all units/floors), people were unable to dry their dishes as there were no tea towels so in the evenings the kitchen was quite untidy and very cramped. I also did not find much of an atmosphere. I think the hostel is a little bit over priced for what it is, but would still recommend a visit to the town if you are passing through.

It's strange to see some negative reviews here…. this place is definitely not dirty at all! I heard it's newly renovated so maybe that's why I am giving it a 5-star rating!
Friendly and helpful staff, clean rooms and toilets, free bike and surfboards hire… and you can book a FREE stand up paddle boarding session! The instructor was great and it was fun. The backpacker is also located near the main mooloolaba beach. Will definitely want to come back here again.

I stayed here for one night while passing through the area. It is very old and run down. The room was extremely dirty and not well maintained. Damaged tiles made for an unsafe bathroom.
The staff were friendly and helpful. The location is fantastic. With some improvements it would be 5 stars for sure.
