“TOP spot. GREAT staff!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 25, 2012

Look, this is our second stay in the last three months. FABULOUS staff that really aim to please. This was peak time during our stay and it did not seem too crowded at all.

One thing I can mark on improvement is the privately owned snack shack that is in the pool area. This is a MASSIVE profit loss for the owners and when it did open had no intention of buying as I felt it was a poor effort. Keep in mind, this has nothing to do with RUMBA but I would look a that contract as having that open would make the pool area OUTSTANDING and by not having it open during pool hours does reflect badly on Rumba whether it is privately owned or not. It takes away value for those staying..

Also the pool shutting at 9 was very disappointing. Perhaps 10pm? The pool was very busy and all were quietly enjoying themselves but still shuffled off.

As you can tell, all minor things. Rumba is a fantastic little place in a FABULOUS location. ;)

Thank you for a wonderful stay. The ocean view apartments with the BIG patios are a Must.

;)

Room Tip: Ask for the oceanview BIG balconies. There is a few that claim beachfront but these are set back wit...

Many thanks for your review. The comments made regarding Rumba's pool bar are not lost on us. It is a great disappointment seeing it closed when all the other facilities here are so perfect. At least we have a selection of great bars and cafes downstairs along the Esplanade. Regarding the pool bar, we will continue working on a solution. Bill.

My family has just had 5 days at this resort.

We had a 2 bedroom apartment on the 4th floor at the rear of the resort which gave us glimpses of the ocean. Next time we would specifically ask for a front beachside apartment.

The apartment was lovely but a bit small for the price. The living room was furnished with a single 3 seater couch which was inadequate. TV and sound systems were modern and functional. The air conditioning system allowed individual control to the living area, kitchen and each bedroom and was exceedingly effective.

The resort consists of a rear complex and 2 separate front complexes all separated by 2 lovely but somewhat small swimming pools. There would not be sufficient seating around the pools if the resort was full. One complaint was that it is not easy for an older person to get out of the lap pool - there are no steps and the ladder had circular rungs. Management might like to look at this - the rungs should at least be replaced with flat ones but the installation of proper steps would be preferable.

The resort is directly opposite a safe, clean, patrolled beach which was a delight to swim in. Directly below the resort on the Esplanade are a number of restaurants but Caloundra being somewhat hotter than Noosa during the summer we found it uncomfortable to eat outside so we tended to eat at the Coffee Club because you had an interior air-conditioned option. If you have a car the Caloundra RSL also offers very good meals in a lovely cool setting.

Caloundra is a very old and not very modern town and shopping options are somewhat limited but does offer a good beach holiday location.

We would return to the resort but not to Caloundra

Room Tip: Book a room at the front directly facing the beach

Thank you for your considered review. You have raised a good point about the steps into our lap pool. This is something we will look at improving. We appreciate the constructive comments and hope to see you back again soon. Bill.

We stayed in a 3 bedroom ocean apartment. The apartment was very comfortable. The bedrooms had sufficient space for our luggage, the bathrooms were also spacious. Beds were comfortable. The kitchen had all the necessary gear. We were never disturbed by other guests and found that we had complete privacy in our apartment, even the balcony was private. There were a few different pools to choose from, and the kids had fun diving to the glass windows to the restaurant below. They also open the onsite poolside bar on friday, saturday and sunday afternoons, and it was great to sit and enjoy a coffee and watch the kids swimming in the pool. The location is great with coffee shops and restaurants below on the ocean side, lifeguard supervised swimming across the road (it's a river, the beach is around about a 1 km walk), and shops only a block away. We all had a great holiday and we can't wait to go back. If you're not sure where to book, we can easily recommend Rumba, and say this was our best family holiday. We can't say exactly what it was that made it great as it was a combination of a great apartment, friendly and helpful staff, lots of swimming options, beach across the road and the great local activities and dining options.
If there's anything lacking, it's barbecues. There are some public ones across the road, but none at the resort itself.

Room Tip: There are 3 apartment blocks. 2 have ocean views and the other overlooks the pools. If you wants oce...

Overlooking the flat water of Bulcock Beach and within walking distance of the surf at Kings Beach as well as a number of restaurants, this resort afforded us a very relaxing few days without having to move the car. Comfortable beds, quiet rooms that are serviced daily, a quite well set up kitchen and a balcony with views to the water. Would return.

I booked a last minute 3 night getaway to surprise my very heavily pregnant wife and 2 children. I wanted something where my wife could really feel special and also have everything she wanted closeby to the resort, she got this and more. The spa in the room was fantastic, the best movie selections ever, the kids absolutely loved the pools and the beach was a stones throw away. The staff were very helpful and always had a smile. We will definately be back and the kids now want this place to be our annual getaway. I have to agree!!

Room Tip: Room 501 has the best views!

We spent a week at the Rumba in late October and were totally impressed. In fact, we still talk about how great it was. The resort has a fantastic balance of five-star fit-out and services but with a very relaxed, unpretentious atmosphere. (We've stayed at other top quality hotels but don't enjoy the overly formal vibe when all we want to do is chill out!) The staff treated us as friends rather than just-another-customer - and were always happy to help, particularly when fetching our rental car key which our toddler dropped onto a balcony below ours.

The apartment was fabulous - excellent layout making maximum use of space. Very well appointed kitchen (we've since purchased our own Nespresso machine!), HUGE bathrooms, lovely bedrooms with great quality bed, linen and pillows.

Rumba's location is awesome! Such a great variety of cafes/restaurants below and a beautiful view of Bulcock Beach, the esplanade, Pumicestone Passage, Bribie Island and beyond to the Glasshouse Mountains. Despite having the beach directly across the road, we couldn't go past the convenice of Rumba's swimming pools and jacuzzi!

The daily service (towels and rubbish bins) was very helpful but a mid-week clean for guests staying 7+ nights (as opposed to 8+) would have been appreciated. Oh, and a couple of bathrobes would've been a nice touch too. Other than that, perfecto! We will most definitely be back.

Room Tip: Can't comment on anything other than what we stayed in: room 413, two-bedroom luxury ocean apart...

What a great review, thank you. We really appreciate some of the constructive points too. Bath robes are something we've been looking into. We are considering options but as yet haven't found a way that doesn't impact too much on cost. We are always looking to improve, and the feedback is invaluable. Thanks, Bill.
