“A hotel that has it all! Great value, outstanding service and a great location!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 25, 2013

We started staying at the Fairmont about two years ago. Since then, the changes (for the better) have been remarkable. It was good value then, but it is much more so now! The addition of a theater (like Gold Class), lobby shop (great snacks and also clothing, swimsuits, hats, scarves, etc. make it even more awesome, especially when you've forgotten to pack a swimsuit and need one ASAP!) and great restaurants make the Fairmont the place to stay in the Blue Mountains. Everything you need is at the hotel...we always go out into town to do shopping, but if you just stayed at the hotel, you would be quite happy as everything is there for you. I can't say enough about the service there...it's truly five star and similar to what you would expect at a Ritz Carlton. Seriously. We used to stay at another five star hotel in Katoomba, and although it's nice, it's not good value...and the Fairmont is JUST as nice. What makes this hotel better than the others is the fact that they try...they care....not only that, it's much more family friendly (we have twin boys that are eight-years-old) and THEY love it there. Stay at the Fairmont...you will NOT be disappointed.

The bar is inadaquatlley staffed. These poor people, who did their very best, are doing table service of food and drinks as well as preparing drinks for Jamieson's buffet.
Clearly , there ought be a division of these tasks , rather than all 3-4 people doing all of those tasks. ie-2 doing drinks for bar /buffet and 2 table service to both.

Overall the service at Fairmont was great and it was a great stay. I will be back, but if the above was redressed, it would have been perfect.

PS. Eucalypt was great on both nights....Not in the Good food guild....They are kidding......!

Dear "Hotelass', thank you for the feedback and we were pleased you greatly enjoyed the dining experience in our Eucalypt restaurant and your overall stay at Fairmont MGallery. Our Embers bar & lounge was particularly busy that evening and our apologises for the slower service you encountered.
We look forward to welcoming you back.
Regards,

Geoffrey York

We are a famly of four - two kids aged 5 and 9, we had a great stay at the Fairmont Leura. they really cater for families. Check in was quick and simple and after depositing our luggage in our adequate, clean and tidy room headed for the heated indoor pool and spa. We then checked out the kids soft play area before heading out to dinner at nearby Katoomba. On our return we discovered a cinema room with beanbags down the front as well as proper cinema seating and we watched the end of 'hop'.
We all found the pillows too hard, but after the impressive buffet breakfast this was soon forgotten and I don't rate buffet breakfasts at hotels generally very highly.
It would have been good if the train ride and the carousel they have operating went for longer than an hour each a day as we missed both of these.
I would recommend staying here for families to explore the mountains and would consider staying again.

We booked a 3 night stay at this lovely resort to celebrate our 1st wedding anniversary. We initially booked 1 night only, as a 'Memorable Moments' package which included a high tea for 2, and breakfast the following morning. We had decided to extend our trip by another 2 days, and the hotel staff were very helpful in doing this over the phone and helping us secure a great rate. From the moment of our check in we were extremely pleased with our choice. The high tea was amazing, and the staff let us take the remaining sweet treats back to our room as we couldn't possibly finish it all. We had a great check in with a lovely young lady named Jessica who was very friendly and informed us we had even been upgraded from a standard Fairmont room to one overlooking the beautiful valley. Another great experience. The room was great, lovely view (Room 444). We had a lovely card on our bed wishing us a happy anniversary and it also invited us down to the Embers Bar to have 2 complimentary drinks on the house to celebrate the occasion. Great service here also, and the pizzas are delicious! Buffet breakfast was also a winner, so many choices. One of the biggest ranges Ive seen at a breakfast buffet in a long time. We had a fabulous stay and would not hesitate to come back again in the future.

Room Tip: Valley view rooms are a must!

Travelling with three children under 8 can be pretty difficult especially when staying in hotels. However, this is possibly the best hotel we have ever stayed in which caters for families and caters so well. The play rooms downstairs are wonderful, clean and very safe.. The gardens are immaculate and the rooms/staff are excellent. We will definitely return soon. What an amazing couple of days. Wish we stayed longer..

Absolutely fantastic stay here. Staff were friendly, knowledgeable and friendly. Rooms (we were in a superior as staff upgraded us for our anniversary) were spacious, clean and had a view if the Blue mountains and Jamison Valley

The breakfast is excellent for a hotel buffet, wide range of cereal, fruits bread and even a fresh slab of honeycomb.

Only downside is a little difficult to get to unless you have a car but this is the same for the whole of Leura and Katoomba
