The website made this place seem ideal for my son and his partner to entertain
visiting parents from UK. Lush Gardens, tennis court, quiet area etc.
The Gardener had not called for a couple of months, the tennis court was
overgrown and unusable and the furnishings looked as if someone had died in
them. The arm chairs had doyleys covering grease patches on the arms and
headrest. There was no dining room as such and meals had to be eaten at a
kitchen table in a kitchen which was just an enclosed verandah. None of the
cutlery or crockery matched and seem to have been collected from garage sales,
or found in junk shops.
The fridge was unusable because the door had been left open and the whole thing
had iced up.
The owner called in for one night (to collect the cash)and offered us the use of
her fridge saying "I don't go down there much".
Heating was confined to an ancient gas fire in the sitting room, with a DANGER
warning attached. Nobody felt it safe to use the electric blankets!
The property was described as a former guest house and there was a lounge with a
bar but the whole place was stuffed with family left-overs (Do not use this
chair it costs a lot to repair it!) such as fishing gear, sports equipment,
rails of clothes making it unusable.
