“Rose- What A Star!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2014

Beautiful place with a lovely old world charm- and the most helpful Reception staff ever- Rose you were lovely! Thank you so much for making our stay special!
This lovely hotel is situated overlooking the Jamison Valley and has stunning veiws. It is also close and convenient to the local shopping districts- Quirky Katoomba St and Leura Village.
Really glad we stayed here- it was an experience I will never forget.
Thank you so much again!

Room Tip: Treat yourselves and get a cabin with the balcony- its worth it!

Dear travelbats
Thank you very much for your wonderful comments.
We are extremely pleased you enjoyed your stay, and also, to let us know by name who directly impacted the level of enjoyment you experienced.
I will definitely express my thanks to Rose, who is indeed, outstanding, and we are very grateful that you took the time to provide us with your positive feedback.
Your suggestion to book one of the Valley View suites, with balcony, is a good one.
Once again, thank you for taking the time to review our Mountain Retreat.

We took two friends from Perth to the Blue Mountains and were really pleased that we chose this hotel. The views were amazing from the dining area .staff very friendly, food good. The rooms were fine decor etc a little dated but didn't matter views outweighed anything else.

Room Tip: We chose the premium room

+ - A very comfy place to stay. Old world charm exudes from every corner, superb views of the escarpment and mountains. Convenient parking.
- The bedrooms are a bit tired. Ours had mould around the bath and a botched grouting job - a bit of a turn off. Plus we took a spare pillow from the wardrobe which had a fresh blood stain on it and had obviously been slept on. Yuk! Someone needs to be checking the rooms for details such as that. Breakfast lacked any flair whatsoever.
All in all though a good value place to stay. We'd come again.

Your experience is important to us and i will follow up the points you raised regarding the housekeeping issues in your room.

We found this older hotel to be somewhat below average. It is an older building which could use updating. Even the hallways smell a little musty. The hotel was built in stages and navigating the building is like trying to navigate a maze. In my opinion it was just about average.

Dear Rich M
Thank you for your comments.
Yes we are an older mountain retreat, now in our 106th year.
We are however, fully restored, but we have retained our links with our heritage, and hence the decore reflects this.
We do have a number of entry/exit options and corridors within the building and I am sorry these are not to your liking, they are however a reflection of the architectural approach of the era, designed to provide easier access to the various rooms over the split levels in the days when an elevator to a high rise floor did not exist.
We hope this did not detract too much from the level of enjoyment of your stay with us, and we trust you will come back and stay with us again.
Once again, thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback.

We called in here for lunch whilst on an organised trip to the Blue Mountains. The dining room has a lovely view over the distant mountains. After having lunch, which was of the standard fayre
we had a walk around the hotel public rooms and grounds. Only saw a couple of guests, no doubt the majority are out exploring the area, given it was mid-day. There are plenty of sitting areas and space to stretch the legs outside.
Given its location, makes it ideal for Katoomba town and especially Echo Point.

Loved the place, that old heritage feeling about it.
Room was nice with a great view.
Dinner in the restaurant was perfect!
Only downside, I asked for champagne and chocolates on arrival as it was an anniversary surprise to my wife......well no chocolates, had to call reception to have them deliver.
Overall, a great place to stay with a great atmosphere, pianist with dinner was great also.

Dear BasBizri
Many thanks for your very positive comments.
We are delighted you enjoyed your anniversary stay with us and the heritage atmosphere of our historic mountain retreat.
I apologise, we did not get the champagne & chocolates into your room before your early check-in, I trust the short delay did not detract too much from the quality of your experience.
Thank you once again for choosing to stay with us, and we hope we can welcome you both back again soon.
