“Great food, service a bit shoddy.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2013

After reading the reviews on here and walking past the bistro during the day we decided we would book a table for the Thursday night while we were staying in Katoomba.Good thing we booked because the place got packed not long after we arrived.
The food was very good, had the mussels and the garlic prawns for entrée, both were top notch then had the beef cheeks which were in a lovely rich sauce and mulloway which was very nice too , shared a couple of deserts also which were pretty good but were full after the entrees and mains.
The service was the only thing that let this place down a bit, because it was busy the tables were quite close together which meant the wait staff kept on bumping the tables when walking past and we almost lost our wine bucket once because of this and when one waiter was clearing the table next to us he dropped some cutlery off the plates meaning a knife and fork were laying next to my feet on the floor, he apologised when it happened but never came back to pick them up.
However I would not let this put me off going here again, the place looks like its still finding its feet and the food was fantastic and at a very good price point.
Looking forward to trying it out again on our next visit to the mountains

“Shows Promise”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 3, 2013 via mobile

This restaurant has great atmosphere although it was a little cold in the restaurant the night where there. The food showed promise but the helpings were too large although some would call this generous. A good addition to the Mountains' scene

“4.5 Star Katoomba Dining and Atmosphere at 3 Star Prices!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 29, 2013

Really, very good. Mussels entree better than we cook at home (that's saying something!), tasty onion & cheese souffle. The slow cooked pork with crispy skin main was first rate, and the lamb shank hearty and just what my companion needed on a cold mountain night. No room for dessert, sorry, so I can not tell you about that! Comfortable understated but smart premises, competent and genuine service. Prices the same as a nice pub dining room (but BYO means you save and enjoy more by bringing your own choice). What can one say? Not much, except can we go again? Next week?

“Food great, but needs work on desserts”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 12, 2013

Had a fabulous dinner with friends- entrees & main meals scrumptious. Dessert on 2 occasions below par. Curdled creme brulee, and over cooked pannacotta. this area needs work, or should be missed. The restaurant very cold, no heating upstairs, and my friends were unable to take their coats off during dinner.

“Delicious!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2013 via mobile

We went to this restaurant on our recent visit to katoomba after wandering past it during the day. The food was delicious and we'll priced, with the serving sizes quite generous.
We had the prawns for a shared starter which were succulent and tasty, with just the right amount of garlic.
I had the beef cheeks for a main with my partner getting the salmon dish. Both were delicious, refined dishes that I would happily eat over and over again.
The restaurant interior is adorable, homely and comfortable with a wood lodge feeling throughout.
The restaurant is byo, but with Dan murphy's only a short distance up the road this was not too much of an issue. We did order vegetables which got forgotten, but given the generous serving sizes we were happy to have then cancelled.
Staff were friendly and service was excellent. A must if you happen to visit katoomba.
