“An exceptional hotel with the highest of standards and excellent cuisine.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2009

My daughter and her husband stayed at Lilianfels to celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary. This hotel met and exceeded their expectations.
The elegance and comfort of the hotel is noteworthy and the friendliness and efficiency of the staff is highly commendable. Great attention is paid to detail and perfection.

Darleys Restaurant, with its haute cuisine and its wonderful ambience, provides a truly memorable eating experience. An absolute joy, I am told.

With the help of the staff, my husband and I were able to surprise our daughter and her husband by buying them dinner on the evening of their choice. The staff decorated their table with rose petals and put a gift in their room.

My daughter and husband plan to return to the hotel with their children and, the next time we visit Australia from the UK, our plan will be to visit this wonderful hotel.

With particular thanks to the staff- after all, it is they who make a good place memorable.

Judith Heseltine.

We always love Lilianfels: fabulous staff, food (Hats of to Hugh) and lovely, comfortable rooms. Always very kind with my little children and welcoming.

I didn't go to the spa this time. I have tried it previously and found the spa staff not overly friendly, which was inconsistent with the staff in the rest of the hotel, so I have never been keen on returning for treatments.

The hotel gets a lot of coach trade visitors who may lack certain social graces. However, the Lillianfels is a very genteel establishment. The decor is understated, yet elegant. The restaurant is adequate. The service is quite good. The location is outstanding, with incredible views of the Blue Mountains.

We stayed here for a totally indulgent weekend, and had a fabulous time. The room was very spacious, and comfortably accommodated a full room-service table that came with our fantastic breakfast. The food was excellent, as was dinner at the adjoining restaurant. From memory, we had a degustation, which was superb. The spa was very good, with an extensive range of treatments. The location is outstanding, a short walk from the three sisters and overlooking the valley.

I have such very happy memories of this place that even writing this more than two years after staying, I am smiling broadly.

My husband and I spent 2 nights at the Lilianfels. We did not regret our choice. Our room was well appointed, clean, roomy and elegant. We had a beautiful view on the main interest 'The Three Sisters". Well located to see the beautiful site. 2 minute walk to Echo Point. The staff was friendly, polite, attentive and very helpful. The hotel belongs to the Orient Express chain. Everything is done with class and "savoir faire". The breakfast is simple but their restaurant DARLEY, the building adjacent to the main hotel is just out of this world. What an experience of flavours and presentation. Expensive but worth every penny.
It's a beautiful area and strongly suggest to spend some time at the Lilianfels for a special occasion or just to be pampered.

A short trip to Leura which is a quaint village with nice boutiques (Leura Mall). If you have kids or grandkids like us, there is a bookstore filled with beautiful children books.

We stayed for 2 nights in April, and had an absolutely perfect weekend. To make it perfect, I would strongly recommend:
- booking a room with a view, as it's definitely worth it
- eating at Darleys, skip Tre Sorelle
- booking in for a sensational afternoon tea in the extremely inviting, comfortable drawing room
- walking out of the hotel & down into the valley on one of the amazing walks - don't just walk around the top. To get the best views, dramatic scenery, cascading waterfalls & perfect picnic spots you need to put in a teeny bit of work!

This was an anniversary weekend, without children. It was very indulgent. A beautiful valley-view room, which was very comfortable with good touches & mesmerising views. We had dinner at Solitary (outside restaurant) on Friday. Saturday was a long lazy breakfast, good coffee with the papers and a fabulous walk. We skipped lunch as we'd booked in for afternoon tea in the drawing room / lounge. We lingered over it & loved it. All curled up on squashy sofas, endless pots of an enormous choice of tea, and a tray of delicious treats, by a log fire. Wonderful.
Followed by a terrific massage, and later, dinner at Darleys.

Lilianfels is not modern in design, but neither is it stuck in doiley-covered Victoriana. It retains grace & charm with modern comfort. Relax & enjoy it. It's perfectly positioned and like a cocoon. Great for a few nights.

We found all staff to be extremely polite and friendly. Everything was perfect from our arrival to our departure.

Our room was clean and tidy and it was the extra touches that we loved. The bath salts were magical and the bottled water outside our door was appreciated during our bushwalk.

The gardens were beautiful and many photos were taken.

We have stayed in hotels both in and out of Australia and by far yours this was the best.

We will definitely be coming again and I can't wait.
