“hotel without restaurant or TV?”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed May 4, 2014

Stayed for the night 3/5/14. Birthday getaway for friends.Got to hotel at 4 pm on a really cold and windy day.Room #30 had no tv, is that even possible in this day and age?restaurant was not open, fireplaces were not on.We had to go out in the freezing cold to a restaurant on main street , which was very good.Returned 10.30, beds had electric blankets but only 1 out of 3 worked. Shower was too dirty looking to use .Nothing looked like the pictures on website!! Very disappointing .

2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 30, 2014

I took my mother to the mountains for a 3 day stay mid-week of the Easter school holidays. The usual place we stayed at was booked so we saw The Clarendon was at the same price so booked there in the motel.
The place is run down. We had a ground floor room with two double beds. The curtains on the window on the Eastern wall were pathetic and we were woken each morning with daylight in the room as if it was midday. The guest information book was 5 years out of date and contained two menus, one printed from a website. All the lamps and light had no shades (well at least they matched.) The beds were at least comfortable. There was no service to the room during our stay which we were not informed about when we checked in so it is just like that we reuse our towels.
Now the worse bit. The bathroom. I was at first bemused at the typed and laminated sign on the bathroom door stating that "The bathroom door MUST be closed when showering." Then I had a shower and realised why. As it was just a (mouldy) shower curtain with the wrong type of (terrible) showerhead all of the water just went over the shower recess and onto the toilet and opposite wall. If the door was to be opened it would have gone into the bedroom. It was practically impossible to have a shower. The bathroom itself had mould on every surface, but you did get a friendly millipede to join you in the shower. He must be friends with the bug I found just roaming my pillows.
The noise was not as bad as I had thought (we stayed when there was no show on). That was until the middle of the night when the person upstairs needed to go to the toilet. You could hear every noise, and I mean EVERY noise, of this poor gentleman going to the toilet.
We decided to skip the complimentary continental breakfast served in the bar between 8:30-9:30am.
Perhaps this place may be ok if you were staying as part of a show package and were only staying the one night. However the location is very good.

We had room 16, old but presentable. It was typical of the area, old but nice.
Bathroom very average but clean. Staff very friendly run but chinese now not native australian. Its quiet the period style guest house as you would expect for the area.

Room Tip: We had a room in the guest house. which was OK. Room 16 sleeps 4.

Got 3 rooms for 1 night, all on the first floor of the guesthouse. All the rooms were old, but one of them (#11) had a really disgusting bathroom, with a leaking toilet and a bad smell. A few insects in the room (no fly screens) did not improve the feeling.
The bed sheets and the towels were clean though.
The hotel staff were nice.
Shame about the room...

Room Tip: Maybe the motel rooms in this hotel are a bit better, I do not know - worth checking.

Visited The Clarendon for Dinner/Show, Overnight Stay and Breakfast.
Dinner was excellent, show was great.
Guesthouse accommodation was adequate but tired and much in need of a make over . A bit like camping, one night is enough.
Breakfast was made more pleasurable by Frank who appears to be a bit of a multi tasked member of staff. Some pastries and some bread and butter plates would have helped.
Staff are friendly and I guess work with what they have got.
If you choose to visit, have an open mind..........

My husband and I stayed here for one night recently on a trip to the blue mountains. It was just after the bushfires so the motel wasn't very busy. The rooms aren't luxury but are clean and it suited our needs. Friendly service and within walking distance to the town centre. Also not too far from the 3 sisters.

The Clarendon Guesthouse is a fanstastic place to unwind and relax, world away from hustle and bustle of life.. Staff are very friendly.. Place feels like being home with sofas in lounge area and easy access from rooms thru to bar/lunch area.. Minutes away from Echo Point & famous 3 Sisters I would recommend this place to visitors.. Late check-out an extra bonus!
Thank you to Staff & Management, keep up the good work!
