“Not a Horse in Sight!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 3, 2013

I made a late July, midweek booking to avoid crowds at the ski fields. The resort is about 15km before Jindabyne on the Cooma road. Being well set back from the road, there was no bus noise to be heard. I stayed in The Horseshoe Lodge, which is separate from the main restaurant / lodge/ indoor horse arena / reception. This lodge had 8 rooms with multiple bunks and a single bed room. All beds with electric blankets. There was an excellent fully equipped kitchen to use and a lounge area with TV - no satellite. Bathroom and toilet may get a real workout if the lodge is full.
The whole lodge was spotlessly clean. The tiled floors were freezing- -5c in the lounge in the morning, with -8c outside. The rooms have heaters, although the corridors, kitchen and lounge were very cold the 3 nights I stayed. The underfloor heating had been disconnected. My single bed 's edge had its day and made for poor sleep. Otherwise I will visit again as it is quiet, close to skiing and a huge full cooked breakfast was served with very friendly faces.

Room Tip: All rooms were equally desirable in Horseshoe Lodge.

We stayed there with two kids in this resort for two nights because it is not too far from Perisher for our skiing trip. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room is fairly new and clean. We didn't use the heater in the room but still feeling quite warm. We will definitely go back next year.

My partner and 4 friends stayed in this resort over the weekend for 2 nights. Although there was minimal snow we still managed to get one day in. The new owners were so pleasant, helpful and happy to have a chat over a cuppa in their restaurant. the bar wasn't up and going yet but from what they said the improvements are going to make this a 5 star resort for sure. As we didn't go up to Perisher on Sunday we stayed at the resort till about 2. We went for a beautiful walk around the property which had 360 views around the district and of course the beautiful snow gums so we managed to get some fab photographs. This resort is not the Taj Mahal but it is great value if your looking to have a quiet stay in a clean and friendly environment. Highly recommend and we are looking forward to going back to stay in a month hopefully there will be more snow!!

Room Tip: Include dinner in your stay best steak I have eaten in a long time.

We stayed here for 2 nights and had a ball! The rooms where warm and comfortable could have been a little brighter things were a bit quiet and dull (to be expected- off peak season). On our second day at the resort my mother and myself went on a trail ride with our guide Alexis she was fantastic! Really knew her stuff!
All the staff were pleasant and very helpful.

Would recommend this resort to anyone, if your passing thru please have a look =)

We did not stay here. We used their horse riding. We found them to be friendly, efficient and responsive to any concerns we had. All four of us had a great time with Alexis, our trail riding guide. She really knew horses and was great with us beginners. The kids convinced us to go back for another ride two days later. This was our first summer visit to Jindabyne. We will definitely remember this place and have another trail ride, on our next skiing trip if the snow is no good.

We stayed in Swagman’s Rest 'The Barn'. This was a most regrettable choice of accommodation. Lots of what they claim to offer is not true. See separate review.

We were lucky i was looking out of the car window on the way to jindabyne or we would have missed it, it is preety far out of the way from jindabyne, we called at 4 to say we would be late checking in (the check in is at 3) but the office was closed even though they state the office is open till 5.30 pm, no one answered the phone we left multiple messages, noone returned them, we arrived there at 520pm the office was cosed we had to wait 20 mins in the freezing cold for someone to show up and give us our keys, the long drive way to the office then from the office to the lodge was rough unfinished and horrible for you tyres with large sharp rocks all over it, the lodge itself was locked fortunatly our room key opened the front door, the inside including the room was freezing even with the 2 small oil heaters that were provided, the shower head was broken with a zip tie around it that i nearly put my eye out with, the water pressure was crap i froze in my 2 min shower, the kitchen had blunt knives yu couldnt cut butter with, and the other equpiment was cheap and hardley useable, on our second night i was woken at 11pm by a man bashing on my window and yelling that the door was locked and there was no reason for it to be locked, he informed us after 5mins of yelling at us he worked there and had to drop a room key off, (all the room keys open the front door) (so he could have used it to get in) there was no sign to say not to lock the door and as it was locked when we got there we assumed it was ment to be locked, also there website says they have a snowgear drying room they do not and if they do there is no signage indicating it, there bistro is only open on weekends lucky we didnt order there breakfast and dinner packages before hand, they have plently of signs around telling you what to do and saying you will be charged extra for things overall we found there service rude the rooms cold and the hotel/lodge subpar DO NOT STAY HERE
