“Good for a night but take your own pillow”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2013

We stayed here in August 2013 for 1 night only. We only wanted a 1 night stay after a long drive prior to heading into the snowfields the next morning for the weekend and there are only one or two places in Jindabyne that will do 1 night in peak season, so we didn't have many choices. I read the reviews before we got here so I had no surprises. We (my husband and 2 small children aged 2.5 yrs and 4.5 yrs) stayed in the Deluxe Family room in the newer part of the motel. The room was great - warm, clean and cosy with a microwave, fridge, tv and dvd - all the things you need with 2 little ones. The owner was a very friendly guy who has been running the motel for 32 years (he was personable and interested in us, in a way you would expect from a B&B owner, which is nice) but I get the feeling he is in need of a holiday himself as it is obviously a labor of love for him. It's a big motel and a bit disjointed due to an older part and a newer part, so if you don't mind that, then it's not a problem. The breakfast was good - hot and cold and everything you would want. It is a comfortable 3 star motel. My only criticism was the beds in our room were very uncomfortable and the pillows were lumpy, not sure if this is through out or just our room. Would I stay again? Yes, probably but I would take my own pillow.

Room Tip: Pick a room in the newer part and take your own pillow.

I spent 2 nights here at the deluxe room (after reading others reviewers advice to pay more for the deluxe rather than budget rooms) for 4. Room and furnishings were as per description, and the room was warm even without the oil heaters on. I was satisfied, especially since it was a last minute booking.

Room Tip: I heeded the advice of others to pay more and get the deluxe room, and was satisfied

I stayed in a deluxe room for 5 nights. It was quite comfortable, although very cold on the first night. The room had a heater which was adequate if left on 24 hours a day, but hadn't been on long enough to heat the room ready for a Jindy winter. Excellent service, nothing was too much trouble and the log fire in the large dining/rec room was a good place to gather with friends to talk at the end of the day. Would stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for a deluxe room.

Just spent 4 days here. Yes, the owner / manager is a very friendly, knowledgeable guy [has been in Jindy 30 years]. Sure, he doesn't want kids dancing on his billiard table - it is his hotel, his future, not some franchise who doesn't care. But nothing is too much trouble, great breakfast, full of tips and info, lovely fireplace at night. After all, the reason to travel is to experience different things - if people expect things 'just like home', then stay home! For the price, the rooms are quite comfortable, and the room oil heaters work just fine, again, just ask if something needs fixing, don't wait till you get home and go online and complain.

Just stayed here overnight while we completed a job in jindabyne. Found this place comfortable and convenient for an overnight stay. Staff were friendly, the breakfast was tasty and the beds were comfortable. Might try something else for a longer stay but for a night or two this place was very adequate. Recommend.

We stayed here last winter for two nights, The Station was booked out and this was the only option we had. The room was very small, equipped with a useless heater, outdoor table and chairs and a clothes rack. The bed was terrible, two singles pushed together to make a queen.

The toilet was located right in front of the bed so whenever someone was in the toilet it would be like you were in there with them. Oh and not to mention the toilet fan did not work so you literally in the toilet with them. The added breakfast was nothing to be excited about, overcooked poached eggs and barely any juice provided. The staff also went out of their way to be crabby.

If you're desperate and have no other options and need a place that's not a camping ground then stay here, otherwise, don't bother!

Room Tip: Maybe the newer room are better?

The owner of the Motel is extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms aren't state-of-the-art but perfect for a weekend down the snow. A 10 min walk into the bars and shops of Jindy.
Recommended! We arrived into Jindy late and we had an additional person. Owner was more than happy to get another bed for us to use. We also had a "good night" out at the bars and seemed to get locked out of our room. At 4am, owner was more than happy to get out of bed and let us back in out room! 5 star service

Room Tip: Ask for rooms at the bottom facility, in the lower carpark.
