“Cheap and cheerful”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 28, 2012

Very basic looking but good size portions. Poor waitress was flat out as she was the only one on and there was a Lions and Bowls convention on.

“Good value & tasty”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 1, 2012

My 2 friends & our 3 teenage children tried this restaurant as we saw lots of people eating there. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Service was excellent , good sized dishes & enjoyed them all. We especially enjoyed the pepper pork , the honey chicken & the new specialty, cream prawns. The rainbow beef was a little soggy but still tasty. My fussy daughter loved the chicken hokien noodles ( satay style ). The decor is very simple . Very good value at about $105 for 6 people including drinks. We would go there again.

“No frills or taste Chinese”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 13, 2012

Run of the mill dishes. Starters were ok, dipping sauce was chemically but the satay sauce was good. Mains lacked flavour but were edible. Meets the needs of their 50+ clients, but not a place to return to.

“Awful awful awful”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed January 8, 2012

I have often read Trip Advisor reviews but this is the first time I have been compelled to write a review mainly because this restaurant is rated no 1 in Forster. We bought takeaway and the 5 people who shared the dishes all agreed that the salt and pepper calamari is the worst calamari (akin to greasy chewy cardboard) and I agree with the last bad review but unfortunately didnt spit it out (like the last reviewer). In hindsight I wish that I had..... Lemon chicken awful. Sweet and sour pork awful. In one word awful

“Greasy, cheap and very, very disappointing”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2012

We arrived in Forster and checked Tripadvisor for restaurant recommendations. The top two eateries listed were, in fact, cafes, which were already closed for the day, so we opted for no. 3, The Gold Medal, based on the glowing recommendations we read.
It was a lesson on why not to trust Tripadvisor. The reviews could not have been more misleading.
This is a cheap (as in tacky, it is certainly not inexpensive) take-away, which has branched out into what is a truly dreadful dining experience.
Formica tables, tiled floors, cheap decor, harsh lighting, screaming kids, boxed wine... The spring rolls were overdone and dripping in grease. The prawn fritters were overdone and still had shells lurking beneath the batter. Both of the above were served with a cheap sweet & sour sauce which obviously came straight from a bottle. The "crispy duck" was, in fact, very fatty duck which had been battered and deep-fried, again, overdone, and again, dripping in grease. The seafood medley in XO sauce was tasteless, and all of the fish was overcooked.
This restaurant is distinguished by the fact that it is the only eating establishment in which I have ever actually spat out my food.
The only positive to this restaurant is that the staff are friendly, but the food is dreadful, dreadful, dreadful.
