“More attention to detail needed...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 18, 2013

We went for a weekend at the end of last yr (2012). We stayed at an ensuite site with our van near the pool. Was a great location within the park and the park is kid friendly. However I was very disappointed on how dirty our ensuite was. The sand and dirt all over the tiled floor and behing the door, at one end of the shower was just mud, sand and hair, I actually had to clean it myself. I am not usually one to complain, but when i'm paying the money i'm paying i expect things to be CLEAN if nothing else. If more attention is given in this aspect the park would be near perfect...

We had intentions of staying for two nights but when we arrived to our cabin we were greeted with filth. There were cockroaches in our rooms and our kids wouldn't sleep in their beds because of the unclean sheets and cockroaches crawling around. We can't believe how much this place has gone downhill. We ended up leaving early as we couldn't stay in the filth for another night. We certainly wouldn't recommend this park to our friends. We won't be back!!!

We spent a month there!!!!!!!!!
Kids loved it, we loved it.

Managers had a lot of vandalism and disgusting patrons to deal with, but they kept their heads high and gave everyone a great holiday.
I have read some review giving bad reports about the cleanliness.
This is not the parks problem, its the clients.
The people staying are the ones leaving the toilets dirty and not keeping things clean.
Peak time over christmas with vandals is hardly the fault of the managers.
They do a great job. They try hard to keep it clean, but ultimately its up to all of us to help and not lay blame.
Perhaps people need to look at their parenting skills instead of blaming management because kids have made a mess..........

Now to the restaurant - Peglegs.

Really Really good food, well cooked and well priced.
Great service as well. We had dinner at a few places in town, but decided it was better at Peglegs.
Thanks heaps Gary. Happy wife, happy life.

We'll definitely be back again.
Always something to do. We could have stayed in the park the month and not be bored.
In fact, we almost did...

Thanks Murray and Sharon.

Room Tip: Best sites along the waterfront. Shady and grassy.

We have stayed at Smugglers for the last 4 years for our family holiday and "We Love It !"

We have three children aged 4, 6 & 7 and they enjoy all the daily activities on offer. They love riding their bikes and scootering around the park which is a safe environment for this activity. The pool areas are fantastic and fun for kids and adults. The highlight for our 4 year old son is the daily tractor ride with Murray !

We have stayed in a couple of different cabins @ Smugglers and have always found them clean and comfortable. All the staff have been friendly and helpful to us.

We look forward to heading back north next January to Smugglers.

This is a great holiday destination for families. The pool is excellent the activities for the kids and adults should also be complimented. The site is in good shape, well maintained and very well managed. I will caveat my comments below by saying that I feel the management is good, but the staff working needs some training and the nature of sites like tripadvisor is naturally to point out issues others might have problems with.

We visited the site with another family who has been coming to the park for 7 years. They had booked their ensuite site 1 year in advance. Upon arriving, their site had been double booked and another family on their site. They used some excuse that 'they didnt confirm' etc. This was a red herring for a staff member simply cancelling their booking for no reason. They ended up in a cabin, but overall the compensation and apology was lackluster.

Our air conditioning broke (on a day when it was 42 degrees). I went to the front desk and one of the young staffers, when I told them of the issue responded with 'I have 6 other things on the moment, not sure what to tell you'. She said she would let the manager know right away 'thats all she could do'. The manager never showed up (I suspect that the other 6 things got in the way) so I fixed the AC myself. A good result for us, but not one I suspect management was aware of.

The floors in the cabins could do with a proper steam clean as they were filthy even after we cleaned them ourselves. Overall, its a great place, very happy with it all besides aforementioned issues.

I've been coming to smugglers cove for 11 Years now, and it's always an enjoyable experience! Shout out to the campers with the wooden signs on their tents. They are always extremely friendly and helpful with whatever needs. Just give them a friendly hello! :)

We enjoyed our stay at Smugglers Cove, but as seasoned campers, we were surprised by the lack of taps to the camp sites. When modern vans are usually fitted with mains pressure plumbing, it was disappointing to not have water to our van due to the distance from a tap. The tap nearest to our site needed to be shared by several sites. We have never come across this situation before. This was the only thing that spoilt our stay. It was a nice park.
