“Easy access and spotlessly clean.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2012

We stayed here recently and were most impressed with the cleanliness of the complex. Not a speck of mould in the bathroom which is a credit to the staff. They also have a sink in the main living area with small fridge, which we have not encountered in any similar motel, but no cooking facilities as such. This is not a new or modern motel but it is well maintained. It is very good value for money with very friendly owners.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2012

My partner and I stayed here overnight before heading to the snow and were glad we did. After a grisly drive straight out of work from Sydney, we got to Cooma really late in the evening and by then starving. Hoping to find a take away shop or cafe, we were out of luck as everywhere seemed to be closed for the night. When we arrived at the Motel, we were warmly greeting by Mona who is the manager and owner. Whilst finalising our check-in, I asked if there was anywhere open for a feed, but she confirmed everywhere would be closed now (I guess typical of a small town?). All I could smell was this fabulous aroma drifting into the reception from what I assume was kitchen. I asked if she by any chance provided meals other than the breakfast because I really wanted whatever smelt so good in there. The manager laughed and said no, not generally and that smell is the remnant of the dinner she had cooked for her family. I asked what it was, and if it was possible to reimburse her for a couple of servings. A delicious traditional Lebanese meal, which could have been the best dinner I have had in a really long time. This is obviously not the norm, and for Mona to go out of her way like that I couldn’t have been any more grateful. This is the kind of service you rarely see anymore.
Alkira Motel is a quaint yet beautiful property. Our room was very clean and well maintained with all the necessities. We had breakfast in the morning which was tasty and affordable. A family run business, Alkira Motel is characteristic of what true country hospitality is about. The service we received is something really hard to find these days. 5 star resorts don't even get it right. Thank you so much for making us feel like part of the family. We will definitely be back!
