Firstly, I've got to fess up. I was spoilt. I turned up, straight from a meeting and the first remark after introductions was "hope you don't mind, we have upgraded you to a front room". No - I didn't mind at all, thanks very much. As I was on business in Eastern Suburbs / airport, it was much better than staying in the City or around the airport. Close to Coogee Bay hotel (beer garden is a great people watch spot) though didn't pick up any noise to disrupt sleep. This is a quirk of the architecture with the ground level front door elevated well above street level on Arden St - which helps the view tremendously.
More so the next morning - opened the blinds, large panorama windows to a marvellous view of Coogee Bay on a classic Sydney morning. Grabbed the towel for a lazy lap of the bay, then back for coffee and basic brekkie in the communal dining area. It really is a lovely spot.
The pluses - it has a great laid back feel. Designer clutter if that makes sense. CLOSE to beach... Real close. Close to a great choice of restaurants. Welcoming hosts, replete with chilled out dog.
The negs - if you want sterile, this is not the place for you.
In summary, it is shabby cool. Loved it, and reminiscent of a great experience in NYC at Off Soho.
