“The vibe is better than the room”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2011

Had a couple days to rest before starting some meetings in Adelaide and Sydney. Decent spot for that. Staff first rate. Breakfast room and courtyard make the place. The room(#4) is as advertised, no more and no less. Bed comfortable, lights a bit dim, good bathroom, no ocean view means no view of anything, not even the breezeway outside because of frosted windows. Coogee itself is nothing special, but the beach is nice. The shore walk to Bondi is spectacular. Dive is unique, with a very nice vibe, but not quite 'Very Good"

Great little hotel, personable staff and excellent facilities. the only thing keeping it from 100% rating is the lack of free wi-fi which is a bit prehistoric. All in all a highly recommended stay.

Thank you for the brilliant review. We do now offer free wi-fi in the rooms. And for those people travelling without computer, we have a free computer on site. Does this now make us 100%?

My husband and I stayed here for a weekend away. I loved the friendly atmosphere, the mix of old and new in the interior design and the central dining/lounge area. We booked a front ocean view room which was great in the day time but the room was very light at night as the curtains did not block out the lights along the foreshore. The room decor was modern if a little sparse. The hotel felt a little in need of a makeover, though I noticed there were works going on as i drove past recently so hopefully it is being freshened up,

The location is fantastic - right on Coogee Beach near lots of cafes, restaurants and great beach walks. Bus exchange close by taking you into the city if needed.

I am not one to normally write reviews, especially not hotel reviews, but the Dive Hotel is a special place. The minute we arrived, we felt extremely comfortable, as if we were returning home. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful...Mercedes, Mark and Sandy and the others are great...as well as the four legged staff...George and Bob. From top to bottom, they make you feel as though you are at home, among friends. We ran into several people staying there that make the Dive their home away from home when they are visiting Sydney. You can now add us to that list.

Room Tip: A healthy breakfast of cereals, juice, yogurt, toast and different coffees and teas is provided, whi...

I chose to stay at this hotel given the reviews it had received on Lonely Planet and elsewhere while attending a conference at the nearby Crowne Plaza and never regretted this decision. The rooms are very nicely designed (although std rooms do not have any ocean views), the owners and staff are very friendly, the location is excellent for the wonderful Coggee-Bondi walk, and there is free wi-fi throught. I enjoyed my stay and would recommend this hotel to anyone staying on Coggee Beach.

The rooms are dull and drab with no wall hangings, white walls with white ceilings left me feeling like I was either in a hospital or back in a college dorm room. Sure the place has a bit of charm, but it is completely average or maybe a little below. The location is the only thing that saves it. I grow tired of downtown Sydney and the "I think I am in LA attitude" of most of the locals, so I decided to stay at Coogee for the week. This place is a short trip to downtown on the side roads. Day 3 the staff forgot to leave fresh towels in the room. The breakfast is minimalistic but the coffee is good (you make your own with French presses). Also, it was the coldest I can remember Sydney and there was no heat in the room which was a bit uncomfortable. There are certainly better places to stay in greater Sydney, but this is a low cost option off season for Coogee, and Coogee is great!

Superior room, means you get a king bed and a twin bed. Go for standard. 90 % of the rooms have no ocean view, or any view for that matter.

Room Tip: Used travel website to book room for under $200.

We decided to take a short family vacation to Sydney and thought a couple of nights at the beach would be nice. The Dive was friendly and clean but we were a bit disappointed with the rooms. Ours faced a wall. The hotel is located right on the water front. However, there is not a single common area that has a view of the water. This was also very disappointing. I thought we should have been warned about the room facing a wall when booking. We knew it would not have a view, but i didn't expect a wall.

I would go back to the Dive but only if we got a room with some sort of a view.

Room Tip: Ask about rooms and what they face when booking
