“Fantastic position”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2007

We had never visited Coogee before and we were so lucky that we chose Coogee Sands to stay for the first time. The view from our room had partial ocean views but that was ok because the roof top was amazing for sitting in the sun reading a book, having a bbq or just watching the waves. The position of Coogee Sands is awesome. There are plenty of shops and restaurants close by. Our room was well equiped and clean and the staff at the front desk were extremely helpful. We had to extend our stay by a night and they obliged and even gave us the same discount rate that we had been paying. The Saturday night we were there, there was a group of guys staying on our floor and a couple of times they (in a drunken state) mistook our room for their mates and woke us up. The staff at the front desk were most apologetic and were dealing with the situation. A great place to stay. We will be back!

I stayed here for two 5 day blocks during my stay in Oz and it was ideal for me. Good location at the end of the beach, you get nice big room with small kitchen area that has a microwave and fridge, no oven, Front desk are friendly and there 24/7. No other facilities like pool or bar but you don't need them - you're in Sydney! Unless you're really going to spend a lot of time in your room, I wouldn't bother paying for a sea view. The Palis nightclub is next door - be aware that if your in a room backing onto that, you may here some tunes during backpacker season. For meals head up Coogee Bay Road and try one of the many nice resturants up there. Make sure you do the Coogee to Bondi walk (1.5 hours) and Coogee to Maroubra Beack walk (50 mins). regular buses to cicular key via Randwick and Central station, and also Bondi Junction. Free parking too.

My husband and I stayed there this last weekend and I have to say, it was above and beyond what we had expected! Great location right next to the beach, we were fortunate enough to get a room with a balcony. For those that don’t, be sure to go to the very top floor where the roof is a huge balcony with tables and chairs. Oh and view is spectacular! The staff was great! And the rooms were nicely kept.

I simply can’t say enough good things. There is a three story upper class bar next door. Has great food and drink, those Australians like to celebrate till 2am plus. We didn’t mind however, we found it very entertaining. =) A great time was had!

My Wife and I wanted to stay some what close to the city and next to the beach. Bondi always being busy we choose Coogee beach. The hotel is literally right on the water. It is also next to some nice cafes, clubs, and pubs. So there is a lot to do within a short radius. Parking is free, which is unheard of in Sydney. The front desk are truly helpful and nice. We stayed in the Oceanview with the balcony. The room was a decent size and the views of the beach were quite nice. The balcony proved to be a nice place to have a few drinks before heading out for dinner. The furniture and carpets are a bit old, but are liveable. One thing I didnt understand was the elevator system. You would get off the elevator and then there would be a few stairs you would have to climb to get to your rooms door. Not too hard to do but if you have a lot of luggage it can get annoying. Overall a good stay for a good price.

Staff were top notch, hotel was very clean and well located. We had a courtyard studio with outdoor chairs and table, no views but very quiet and clean, bed v comfy. Parking was included - undercover, right next to reception, EASY! Convenience store a few doors down, beach 100 paces away. Good value too. The most friendly staff in all of Sydney, I'd have to say. We'd stay again!

Have just come back from staying at the Coogee Sands Hotel and Apartments and have to disagree with the previous postie. As a family of 4 with 2 children we had great time, the rooms were very clean and tidy and the staff were very helpful. The price was very reasonable for Sydney standards. Being there over New Year we certainly had no problems with noise. We had a deluxe suite ( a bit on the small size for a family of 4) with a court yard which I would strongly recommend, also included a double bed and a double pull out sofa for the children. The room also included a mircowave, fridge and sink which was ideal for preparing small meals. Two levels of underground car parking available . The location of the place is fantastic being right on the beach. Lots of diffrent resturants to choose from in Coogee Bay Road - would recommend the Chinese resturant. Public transport great, will take you just about anywhere in Sydney. Would prefer to stay here then Bondi any day.
