My extended family of five stayed in three rooms for two nights at this hotel at the end of our visit to Australia. It had been recommended by my niece, who lives in Coogee and my brother-in-law, who had stayed there previously. In fact, we had tried to get in to at the beginning of our trip but it was booked solid with a conference. There is not much to say about the hotel itself. It is your standard, first class hotel, similar to many such large, well-maintained and well-managed hotels around the world. All the bells and whistles. It is exactly what you would find in the upscale district of a large cosmopolitan city. But it is not located in the middle of Sydney or any such similar place. It is located in Coogee, a gorgeous built up southern coastal suburb of Sydney, and lies directly across the street from an incredibly picturesque crescent beach. We did not take rooms with sea views but they are undoubtedly spectacular. For my money there is no better place to stay in the Sydney area than Coogee and the Crowne Plaza is its best hotel. The bus stop for the short picturesque trip into the heart of Sydney is just in front of the hotel. We stayed in Coogee because of our family connection but it is great place to stay nonetheless. If you do, take the four mile coastal walk, with interconnecting paths and boardwalks, from Coogee north to Bondi Beach, the most famous in Australia. There are continuous stunning views with an occasional nice cafe to stop at for coffee. As for Bondi itself, it is very very nice but for my money, Coogee has it beat hands down.
