“Just as good as being right in the centre of the valley”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2013

We stayed at this motel on the June long weekend just past. We arrived early to just see if we could possibly get to our room and luckily for us it was ready. The room was clean and tidy. The Bathroom was great. I found the water pressure fantastic. It is a 5 minute drive to the outskirts of the valley and if you are driving you will have no problem. The motel is associated with the Cessnock Supporters club and I think you can get discounts but we didn't eat there that weekend. Our package also came with a free bottle of wine and chocolates from a winery which you had to go and get yourself. All over a good place to stay. We have booked our next stay for a wedding next year.

Stayed here for 3 nights on our trip to this part of N.S.W. The hotel is modern, clean and comfortable, it has a lift which is a great help for visitors with mobility issues and the ease of luggage handling. Close to the centre of town but very quiet on the 1st floor in our room, which had a king bed and plenty of space for sitting etc. Very close to supermarkets, shops and cafes. The hotel is next door to the local leagues club which is very convenient for meals if you like this sort of venue. Ample off street parking. All in all a good hotel to stay at if you want to visit the Hunter Valley region.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the car park, quieter.

Stayed here as part of a group golf trip. Booked a twin room which turned out to be very different from the advertised photos - the room we were given was a queen with a single trundle bed making it a very tight squeeze. We spoke to reception and were offered an alternative which was a bigger queen room with a lounge area for the trundle bed. Quite surprised when the trundle bed was tied up with a black plastic bag, bedding included, and wheeled down the corridor to the new room. To offer adults paying full price a trundle bed is not acceptable - was told by the receptionist that this is what they class as a twin room. Other friends who were in standard twins said the beds were very small - 2'6 rater than the standard 3'.
Our room was over reception on the first floor and quite noisy - first night we had a screaming baby in the unit above, noisy people leaving the adjacent club and a car alarm at 2am.
Even considering the fact that our rate included golf, it is still an expensive rate for very mediocre facilities and comfort. Would not recommend and definitely wouldn't stay there again.

Room Tip: Another hotel

Booked three rooms for one night. Excellent value at just over $100 for Sunday night. Probably best option in town and much cheaper than nearby vineyards. Biggest let down was bistro next door - waited almost 1 hour for basoc food and service left a lot to be desired. Would still reccomend hotel - just heed local advice and eat elsewhere.

Room Tip: Hotel is very close to road. We were woken at 7.30 but whipper snipper. Rooms on western side have v...

Stayed here on our way from Sydney to Woolgoolga. It is right in the middle of the wonderful Hunter Valley wine country. The price was reasonable, the location great, the rooms clean and comfortable, the staff friendly and helpful. Walking distance to restaurants in town. Sits adjacent to a small shopping center and has plenty of free parking. For some good food that won't break the bank, try the pub in the Cessnock Hotel. Great pizza and pasta carbanara.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the elevator and stairwells.

We hired a car to go to the Hunter Valley, so therefore didn't need to be in the heart of the vineyards, and opted to stay in the town of Cessnock instead - 10 mins drive away. This motel/ hotel did not disappoint! The young guy on reception was really helpful, and recommended an excellent variety of vineyards to try. The room was modern, had a nice big shower, and very comfortable bed. Over the car park was a supermarket, which was handy as we wanted to have breakfast in the room. Would definitely recommend staying here, and would recommend the following vineyards: Audrey Wilkinson's - amazing views, Brokenwood - great wine 'Cricket', Waverley Estate aged wine - get educated in the difference between new and aged, and also gundog estate - gorgeous old schoolhouse setting.Head to Aqua golf on the first day of your visit for the chance to win prizes for the cellar doors and restaurants in the area - great fun even if you don't win!!

We stayed for one night in January 2013. The location is great. Handy to shops and restaurants and the Cessnock Leauge Supporters Club is just across the drive with a good bistro and all normal club facilities.
It was one of the hottest days in history (45 degrees celsius) and there is no air conditioning in the lift or the hallways but the A/C in the rooms was a welcome relief. It was wonderful although maybe a little noisy.
The motel has great staff who are both helpful and friendly, particularly Graham who, during the booking process, could not do enough to make our stay enjoyable.
The rooms are clean and tidy with nice linen on the beds. The bed was a little too hard for my liking but that is a personal thing.
The continental breakfast at $13.50 was good value with a nice selection of cereals, toast and breads, muffins, crumpets, fruit and juice. An adequate start to the day. The coffee was a tad strong though.
The only criticism of the whole stay would be that the cleaning staff could pay a little more attention to detail eg. there was dust on the sills in the hallway, there was a cigarette butt under the coffee table in our room and the the shampoo in the toiletries was half used.
Other than that it was a pleasant stay and would not hesitate to stay here again.
