We were dubious when the motel we were staying in recommended "the restaurant in an old pub" but choices in Cessnock are limited. We went with trepidation but were more than pleasantly surprised. What a delight to have superb food, great wine and excellent service at a very reasonable price. The pub has been tastefully decorated and is a great meeting place offering leather arm chairs and soft lighting. Cloth covered tables in the restaurant along with soft floor covering reduced noise, so none of the usual loud clatter you get in eateries these days. We had entree sized meals which were fresh and delicious with sides of salad, seasoned zucchini and fries, followed by desserts you would only expect in a world class restaurant. We definietely did not leave there feeling hungry! No need to head off to the overpriced wineries for a dinner to remember. 221, you do Cessnock proud!
