Thornton-le-Moor is a few miles out of Northallerton, in a peaceful rural setting. The Black Swan is a typical country pub with rooms and mine was comfortable, with all all that was required for my overnight stay. It was pleasing that the restaurant offered good tasty food, well above normal pub grub. he only problem was an awful pong from (presumably) the drains, which although very stron, thankfully didn't reach my room.

Angie and Peter were wonderful hosts. The room good quality and value. A lovely bath with hot water and a fantastic nights sleep. Maybe one of the most welcome finds was the well stocked bar with good single malts, along with the super company. The breakfast was clearly locally sourced, great quality and immaculately prepared.

Do not pass by if you are in the area.

It was snowing and very wintry, so instead of doing the 30 mile drive home after visiting friends in the area we decided to stay over at the black swan, we had a fantastic meal in the woodys restaurant, a lovely modern room with large bathroom, topped off the next morning with a great yorkshire breakfast.,

Room Tip: only saw our room, but believe they are all of the same good quality

We have stayed here when visitng friends in the area in the past and last weekend gathered there for a weekend with friends to attend a wedding nearby. We were made very welcome and everything was up to the usual standard. The hosts showed interest in plans and did their best to accommodate all members of our party. We had a fantastic meal on the Friday noght in the restaurant. There was plenty of choice at breakfast.

We were booked in here for a family party near by.
The room was a good size, the two single beds were squashed together, as i was sharing with my 15 year we had to move beds apart. The Carpets need a Good Clean, our room was on the front of the pub, the lights were very bright from the front of the pub, even the curtains didn't block out the light.
The bathroom was big, too big i think for the size of the room. The Bath and Hand towels were in need of renewing. they were a dirty grey colour, once probebly white, and not at all inviting even th dry your habds, just as well i take a towel every where i go ...
Breakfast was alright I have had better ... Had to ask if they served baked beans with the cooked breakfast, and for the big eaters, it wasn't very much on the plate., the breakfast orange juice was the cheapest of the cheap, tasted of sherbet !!! Not good, no one drank it ...
We didn't eat in their restuarant so i can't comment on that.
I would not recommend this hotel, and not go back in a hurry ...

Room Tip: As i only seen the oom i was in, i can't comment on any other rooms.
