I don't know where to begin. I want this review to sway people to choose this accommodation so they get to experience it for themselves. Despite all the raving reviews, this place still beat expectations by far. As a former quality in tourism worker and being well travelled, I find it very frustrating not to be able to find even a suggestion for improvement. This place is surely second to none! So there is a hill, and yes it is steep, very steep, but we hired a car and so took that out of the equation. Many people, young and old walked up this hill every day, probably 100 metres up hill from the centre of Airlie Beach and then a steeper stretch between 20-50 metres from the hill through the resort depending on which apartment.
Apartments were clean, well furnished and of high quality with absolutely everything you could think of. The views from the balcony are honestly the most stunning, breathtaking scenery I have ever seen off any balcony, and from our apartment they were over 180 degree views of the lush green cliffs, turquoise seas, islands and the town. Our apartment was so impressive, when we were not out and about on trips we had booked, we wanted to come back and relax, so we stocked the big fridge/freezer from day one, to avoid having to nip out to the shops for things!
The spa was in perfect working condition and could be used hot or cold (ideal for me as I am pregnant). We had breakfast out on our balcony every morning, and even though there were other guests staying at the hotel, we never heard a peep, we had complete peace for our 4 night stay, except for the sounds of the tropical birds which just added to the experience! We had 2 curlew's (i think that is what they are called - birds with long legs) who appeared outside one of our windows, in the bush at the back of the apartment, every morning!
The staff were very friendly, as were all people we came across on our holiday. Finally a place in Australia that has customer service skills second to none! Broome a close second!
The whole vibe of Airlie beach is very laid back and relaxed, which surprised me as I had expected it to be over run by back packers. My favourite part of town, was the part directly at the bottom of the hill from the apartments, great row of restaurants and bars facing the beach. When you came back to the apartment, you had peace again, and only the lights were evidence of the vibrant and chilled (contradicting maybe, but somehow true) town below.
Great lay out of the apartment and lovely big comfy bed and large TV in the bedroom, as well as in the lounge. The balcony doors/windows stretch from one end of the apartment to the other, no waste of view here! What more can I say about this place?
The lagoon in the centre of town was very pretty, and ideal for a bigger alternative to the apartments pool. Plenty of shade available, with good facilities. A great place to relax after a busy day exploring the Whitsundays!
We did an amazing seaplane tour with Air Whitsundays. The panorama tour is $475 pp but is really an experience of a lifetime.....seeing the reef from above was just like you see on the TV or pictures, snorkelling on the Great Barrier Reef stunning in a private group of 10, the Hill Inlet by air was almost unbelievable, the pristine Whitehaven beach - wow and the sea landings and takeoffs just add to it! In all the places in the world my husband has never managed to get me into the sea to snorkel, there was just something about this trip that left me no choice, I went in (with a float aid for comfort) and having seen the beauty from the glass bottom boat, I built up the courage! But for those who just want to stay on the boat, it is very relaxing and plenty of cheese, biscuits and bubbles!
We also did an island hopper with cruise whitsundays....$99 for a day hopping on and off, we fitted in 2 islands....Daydream and Hamilton. You could squeeze in a third island on this pass, but we loved burning around in golf buggies ($30 per hr aprox) at Hamilton Island way to much.
We came all the way from Perth (12hr journey each way) so our expectations were always high! The only thing we regret about this holiday, is that we did not stay for longer. For the first time ever in our lives, we can honestly say we did not want to leave!
Thank you Pinnacles Resort & Spa, Air Whitsundays, Cruise Whitsundays and the Airlie Beach locals for a memories we will never forget! We will be back!

We had a view over the town and the harbour, maybe not all apartments do. I would say higher is bet...
