“Great view, great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 12, 2013 via mobile

For the most part, the Coral Sea Resort was a perfect stay while in Airlie Beach. Very centrally located with amazing views on all sides. Just a few minutes walk to the Lagoon and to the marina. The hotel definitely catered to my needs and the staff were good. One small complaint, wifi ridiculously expensive and not available in the rooms

We didn't stay here but ate breakfast on our last morning. Waitress was very rude from the start and acted as if we were an inconvenience. When we were seated she asked if we wanted water then slammed our glasses on the glass table. She was irritable when we ordered the food and when my eggs florentine came they were completely covered in sauce. To our horror when we went up to pay, we found out they couldn't take payment by credit card or eftpos as the Internet lines were down. That was completely out of their control. However she then said 'oh, I forgot to tell you that when you came, sorry'. I then suggested she take down my credit card number and details and charge us later when everything was back online. She sighed and huffed ad said 'I'm so over today just give me all the money you've got!' She then held out her hand while we searched for coins and money from our wallet. There was another couple behind us and we were so embarrassed. The bill was approx $43 and we had about $35 in cash. She then said 'that will do, I'm over it!' We left and just looked at each other at the disgraceful service if you could call it that. We looked at getting married here but changed our mind. So glad we aren't. I've told everyone!

Oh dear , we were all very dissppointed to read this. The staff member concerned was clearly letting the communication outage affect her judgment.

We arrived early than check in time, and the receptionist who was reallly friendly and helpful allowed us to check in early as the room was ready. The room we booked was one with two double beds , really spacious and modern . The room was spotlessy clean and had a lovely balcony, the views are amazing so worth staying here. We had the tropical breakfast which was great, lots of choice and plenty to eat. On our 1st day we relaxed around the pool which was just perfect. The restaurant staff were really friendly and helpful. I reccomend you book tours with the lady in the resort shop, her service was fanatastic. We would definately come back and enjoyed our stay here.

We stayed here for 3 nights. We had a garden view room with a view of the sea as well. Our booking included breakfast.Although we found that the continental breakfast was the same every day.And not much variety. We felt that the room could have been cleaned a bit better prior to our arrival.
The reception staff were very nice friendly and helpful. They were able to get us on the Whitehaven express tour at very short notice.

Hotel was a little dated, the pool is a great size but looks in need of renovation. Can't argue with the location though outstanding views. Service is pretty average, i booked via wotif and then decided to take my 6 year old daughter i rang the resort and they said it would be an extra $20 a night, then when I asked for late check out, they said they would have to charge me. Whilst I understand there a business a little customer service wouldn;t go astray.

Room Tip: Pay the extra for ocean views

We stayed 4 nights in the Coral Sea suites. Good sized rooms with all you need. Comfortable beds.Great views from the balcony which had a hammock & spa pool. As it is next to Marina there is plenty of interesting boats going past. Excellent salt water swimming pool with cover over the center. Dining room overlooks this too. Easy boardwalk to Cruise departures or Marina tavern.

We stayed here for one night and wish we could have stayed longer! Nice large, clean rooms with beautiful views from the large balcony. Dining area is open air overlooking the pool and bay/sea, my favorite spot to relax with a cocktail! The resort is a short walk to the main shopping/restaurant area as well as the marina. Staff was helpful and accommodating to our late check-in and late check-out (Check-out is 10am which is quite early).

Room Tip: It seems like all of the rooms have a good view but the higher up the better so you are above the fo...

Thank you, we have recently finalised a 2 million dollar refurbishment replacing all furniture and upgrading public areas. We have kept the original feel and charm of the property and enhanced our nautical theme.
