“Charming day cruise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2013 via mobile

We were looking for a cruise experience in Whitsundays without the hassle of spending the night offshore. Derwent Hunter ticked all the boxes. Very relaxing day with some thrills such as snorkelling with sea turtles. The boat has got a lot of character and the slow pace sailing added to the enjoyment.
We combined this with another day sailing to Whitehaven with another operator which worked perfectly for us.

“Derwent Hunter day trip.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 17, 2013

What a wonderful time on the tall ship. Not only is the vessel terrific, but the crew make the trip a lot of fun. My husband & l were in Airlie to celebrate our 30th Wedding Anniversary, and this day out, made our celebrations even more memorable. We met lots of great people, all ages, had Great food, snorkelling was fun and beaches were superb! They supplied wet suit, snorkelling gear and any thing you required. We always wanted to go on a sailing ship, so now that's another one to tick off the bucket list. Great experience and such a pleasure. Keep doing what you do crew, fabulous!

“A Beautiful Day Out”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2013

For the first time in 9 months we decided to go for a sailing trip. We are locals but we do not have free time to enjoy the Whitsundays :) We chose Derwent Hunter as we had heard only good things about this ship. Definitely this boat has got style.

The crew was really nice. Special thanks to the skipper, Dave and deckhand, Cameron. They really entertained the quests. The children were also happy as they had an opportunity to dress up as pirates and to help sail the boat.

There was planty of food for everyone (tea/coffee, cholocate cake, fruit, cold lunch). Drinks were offered to purchase but a refund was given if the voucher wasn't used at the end of the trip.

We stopped for snorkelling at two places: Bali Hai and Langford Reef which are worth seeing. Unfortunately we did not have enough time to enjoy them entirely as we had only 30 minutes for activities after a drop off at the islands. So it looks like we need to book this trip with Derwent Hunter again what we are happy to do so with pleasure!

“Tall Ship Day Cruise”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 27, 2013 via mobile

For sailors, would-be sailors and landlubbers alike, the schooner, Derwent Hunter, and her fun-loving crew are a delightful way to spend a day in the protected waters of the magnificent Whitsunday Islands.
The vessel is well designed and built, and goes through the swell gently and with very little roll.
The crew is young - except for the old salt skipper - but very professional and safety conscious; and they will teach you and put you to work on the ropes - but only if you volunteer. And you can ask them anything.
The lunch and snacks were plentyful, tasty and even healthy.
There was a bit of a swell when we went out, which resulted in murky water, where we snorkled. But we still saw Loggerhead turtles, Parrot fish, Bat fish and others. And a pleasant walk along the beach was nothing to sniff at either.
The only downside was, that numerous other operators crowded the area, but that is probably unavoidable anywhere in the popular Whitsundays, and not the fault of the Derwent Hunter Day Tours.

“An absolutely perfect day for our 8 year olds birthday!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 26, 2013 via mobile

Our three little boys were in heaven onboard the derwent hunter! We were truly impressed with the personal attention they were all given by the friendly crew. The birthday boy especially! The boys had an experience to remember, steering the ship, hoisting the sails, dressing as pirates, snorkelling, asking the crew all sorts of questions, and receiving friendly, informative and personal attention from the crew and skipper. Mum and Dad had a good day too! Snorkelling was good, we saw dolphins, whales and turtles, and there was plenty of food, although the menu was good but not amazing. There was not a large group onboard that day, which helped make the day comfortable.
