“Fine - you know what you're getting and the food's not too bad”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2010

We've dined at Hog's Breath cafes all over QLD and in Byron Bay, NSW. They are great for a quick meal when you don't want to have to think about it too much - that's if you're just after a burger or steak and fries. I had the new quesadilla and it was quite good for $10. It's sort of like going to the upmarket McDonalds - you know what to expect, it comes out quick and hot, and you know what you're going to pay. No complaints. Last visit in Airlie Beach and Cairns we took some Canadian family there and they really liked it.

“Good portions, quite cheap, average quality”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2010

A typical casual diner, which doesn't pretend to be much else, its cheap and the food is average, the steak really wasn't mouth watering as they advertise and the folks on the table near us all left their food, not sure why, but our wasn't too bad

Eat here if you are on a budget or if there's nowhere else open!

“We would eat here everyday”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2010

This Hoggies is gorgeous. It has the same menu as every other hoggies, which might i add is great. Huge selection. If you are lucky enough to get a table on the balcony you get to overlook the lagoon. Not to mention if you love bird life nothing beats eating you lunch with the friendly kookaburra sitting less than a metre sometimes nearly on your shoulder.

The service here is great. A chick called Bones was our waitress and she deserves an award for the service that she gave us.

“not worth writing home about”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2010

went to hogs breath for a signature steak, guess what all signature steaks of the menu, sold out apparently! Im sure it wsa nothing to do with the fact it was really quiet and practically empty! I had a chicken burger which the waitress assured me was an excellent choice as thats what she always orders herself, it was at best average, a greasy soaked bap on the bottom and some kids type curly fries, not what I had in mind at all.
certainly wouldnt recommend this place, on the plus my daughter enjoyed her kids steak.

“No hog would eat what I was given”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed January 26, 2010

Ok so it's the day after Australia day, but that shouldn't be any excuse. We waited 45 minutes (and were almost the only ones there) for a steak that was not just overdone, it was burnt to death - charred beyond recognition - and it was ordered rare. Another was ordered, but my wife had to carry on eating hers - which was also way overdone - she just doesn't like to complain. Another steak turned up about 15 minutes later, by which time my over-cooked veg was nearly eaten and this next one was also burnt but not quite as overdone.

I can't believe a restaurant that majors on steak would be able to turn out something quite this disgusting. Whoever was in the kitchen clearly could not cook.

The waitress, in fairness, was extremely apologetic - but she seemed not at all surprised the food was so bad.

A few dollars were taken off the bill but frankly in a situation like this the whole cost of the meal should be removed.

Terrible experience - whoever owns this place should be ashamed.

I would certainly recommend this to all my friends - as a place to NEVER go.
