stayed at the melaleuca for 10 days in march 2006, has to be the ideal place to tour the area from. the hosts are great without being intrusive, the units have washing machine, dryer, dish washer fully self contained with undercover parking which was very handy during the cyclone. a fantastic pool set in private surrounds. we hired a car, this is a must,it makes the sightseeing a breeze.you beat the crowds by arriving early and leaving early.hartleys crocodile farm is great value and very interesting. we covered most touristy things from cairns to cape tribulation and the cost of food, drink, petrol, entry fees to attractions etc was very reasonable.petrol was $1.16 a litre, we pay $1.38. would recommend the whole cairns area for a holiday, palm cove is very central to tour from.

The apartment itself was fine with ceiling fans and AC to cool off in the humid summer. Laundry makes it easy to get fresh clothes on a longer stay. Palm Cove is best used as a laid back resort for the beach and restaurants. However, if you would like to do tours, Sonja and Robin will happily advise and book tours for you. The Green Island snorkelling leaves from the Palm Cove Wharf and most tours will pick you up from the hotel. Tjapukai is definitely worth it if nothing else from throwing the boomerang and spears. I would also recommend NU NU restaurant for lunch or dinner.

Beautiful apartments with everything you need: fridge, freezer, microwave, washer, dryer etc. Clean and comfortable with a great location just across a quite road from the beach, which was never full of people, very tranquil and romantic. We had an ocean view apartment with a terrace/balcony but there are so many palm trees and other plants around that you could only see the ocean through 2 small gaps in the foliage, but still a beautiful view - just don't pay much extra for it as I suspect the garden view rooms are just as good (I think the only difference is that they are on the ground floor and ocean are on the first floor). A very short walk from the very small shopping centre with restaurants, a supermarket and a couple of souvenier shops, and a takeaway a short walk in the other direction. Buses to Cairns could be caught on the road in front of the apartments but they take about 40 mins or so. Management were really helpful with tours, buses and hire cars. If you want to see Wallabies in the wild look along the side of the Captain Cook Highway near the bowling green and horse paddock, I think near the Trinity Beach exit

**** This small, family-run resort is GREAT VALUE for both singles and families.

It is well situated across from the beach at Palm Cove, a short and inexpensive shuttle or taxi ride from the Cairns airport. The location just north of Cairns, allows easy access to the great barrier reef, Kuranda rail and cultural centre, hot air ballooning and Daintree to the north.
The self-contained suites are equipped with kitchen and laundry facilities and are quiet and spotless. The grounds include a small but lovely private salt-water pool and spa, plus a barbeque and eating area that are also well maintained. It is in close proximity to both casual and formal dining, markets, post office with internet access as well as world-class spas. The owners are very friendly and helpful in suggesting and booking tours, outings, etc., and tour pick-ups do come right to their door. Our recent stay was very pleasant and comfortable and I would not hesitate recommending this resort as a short or long stay facility for anyone in the Cairns/Palm Cove area.

Palm Cove was the tropical part of our honeymoon in Australia. We were lucky to choose Melaleuca resort for our accomodations in Queensland. Beautifully situated facing the Ocean with a balcony the hotel is a dream for every couple on their honeymoon. The rooms are very large (bedroom, living room and fully equipped kitchen!!!), comfortable and very clean. The garden and the pool area are a very private and a very cozy retreat after a full day at the beach. The hosts very kind and accomodating; helped us setup all the tours and gave us all the "neighborhood" tips.

I really recommend Melaleuca resort for your next trip to Australia.

We stayed there for a week in November 2004. Apartment was very comfortable and clean. Had a washing machine and drier in the bathroom - no charges! Excellent for the traveller. Lovely gardens and excellent pool and no more than 30 seconds to reach the beach. Robin and Sonia who run this Resort were extremely helpful. Palm Cove is an idyllic place with boutique shops and plenty of places to eat - deinitely the best place to stay in the area. We certainly would go there again.
