“Lovely peaceful grounds close to everything”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2014

The resort is just off the esplanade but it is only about 50 metres from the beach and 100 metres to the start of the cafes . Given this once you enter the grounds you feel that you are well away from any hustle and bustle.
From the street the property does not look anything special but once you enter the gate you find a different world. Lovely well manicured grounds and a natural lagoon with plenty of bird life. It has a large well maintained pool and BBQ area.
Most of the units are in several complexes about 4 stories high - however we stayed in unit 22 which was quite different . It is a one bedroom stand alone unit which is accessed via the pool.and is right next to the lagoon but on the opposite side to the other buildings This makes it very private and great for bird watching . We stayed for a week and every day we had a variety of birds within a few meters of our balcony.
The unit has a bedroom , kitchen /dinging area a small lounge area , bathroom and a separate area with a two person spa. It did not appear to be quite as modern as the units shown on the web site but I assume those photos when from the units in the complexes. Never the less it was well equipped and quite comfortable.
This unit would be great for a nature lover or someone who was looking for something different.
We did get some noise from the birds ( not a problem for us ) and the fountain in the lagoon during the day and in school holidays there maybe some noise from the pool.

After many years staying at Sea Temple in Palm Cove (now the Pullman) we decided a few months ago that we wouldn't go back. See separate review.
We looked at other alternatives and decided (after being shown through by Scott) that the next holiday would be at Sanctuary.
We were very impressed. Scott and Jane are wonderful hosts and the property is immaculate. And so much quieter than Sea Temple.
We stayed with another couple in a two bedroom apartment that had every convenience you could wish for. As others here have mentioned the grounds are superb and the location ideal.
This is undoubtedly the best place in Palm Cove to holiday. I recommend it highly.

We stayed at Sanctuary for a period of 12 days. Even though it is quite a large facility, it has an air of seclusion and peace. Just the place for a relaxing holiday. Our apartment was clean, spacious and very comfortable. It was equipped with folding doors which when opened made the space very light and airy. The bed was comfortable and the kitchen was terrific. Nothing was too much trouble for our hosts Scott and Jane.
We used the pool , which is beautifully maintained, a few times and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
The location is close to the beach, shops and restaurants as well being very convenient if you wish to use public transport.
Thoroughly recommended.

Having fallen in love with Palm Cove many years ago, we've stayed at just about all the hotels and resorts on the Esplanade over the years. Many are very nice, but none offer what we've now discovered is the best, Sanctuary. We just loved our stay. The apartments are beautifully appointed and very big, all with fabulous views over the gardens and lagoons in the hub of the resort. Throw open the bi-fold doors and let the outside in! The pool and BBQ deck is great and the whole place is just so quiet and serene, and with all the restaurants and cafe's just a casual stroll around the corner. Definitely recommend this one and we'll be back many times more. Thanks Scott & Jane and Chris for a wonderful stay.

We stayed at the Sanctuary Palm Cove with our 2 daughters aged 13 & 9. We booked a 2 bed apartment and we were allocated a 3 bedroom apartment on arrival. I can honestly say these are the best and most luxurious apartments I have ever stayed in. They were HUGE!! The en-suite in our bedroom was bigger than my bathroom back home. They had all mod cons, fully equipped kitchen, dining area, lounge, laundry room with washer/dryer, 3 balconies and bi-fold doors which were fantastic, felt like you were sitting outside all the time. The swimming pool was fantastic, kids loved it, it also had a spa and a communal bbq area. The apartments are just across the road from the esplanade at Palm Cove, a 5 minute walk if that. Whilst we were there we were hit by Cyclone Ita, Category 5, the worse one they could get. We were under lockdown for over 24 hours and issued with our Cyclone Emergency Pack. The owners were so nice and friendly, they made sure we had all our "hurricane bolts" in place and came to check on us after the storm has passed. I will never forget the sound of that cyclone, or the palm tree I saw flying past, lol!! Thankfully we all survived as it had downgraded by the time it reached us to a Category 3 which was still bad enough, although power was off and on, telephone lines down but it was an amazing experience to say the least!! As soon as it had passed, the owners got to putting the place back to normal, clearing debris from around the grounds and pool, by the next day you would never now that there had been a Cyclone! The grounds of the apartments are beautifully landscaped with ponds and waterfalls. If I ever go back to Palm Cover I would definitely stay here again without hesitation. Definitely recommend - you will not be disappointed.

If, like me, you spend hours agonizing over accommodation bookings, seriously, just book these apartments - you won't be disappointed. I booked a 2 bedroom apartment for myself, my husband and our 2 year old and a 1 bedroom apartment for my in-laws. It is difficult booking on someone else's behalf and you hope that they like it! Well, they loved it and so did we. We've just stayed for 6 nights and it was beautiful. It is peaceful and quiet. The apartments are airy, light-filled and modern. The service is wonderful (thank you Scott & Jane). The apartments are good value for money. The gardens are beautiful and well-maintained. The pool is lovely. It is so close to the beach and the restaurants on the esplanade - and then you come back to your own private retreat. We would highly recommend. We also had a wonderful dinner at Vivo. Thank you Scott and Jane. Just a small note, they are self-catering apartments so your apartment is not serviced throughout your stay - but you can pay for it if you want it.

I discovered this property on Tripadvisor and wasn't disappointed. This was our fifth visit to a Palm Cove and hope to stay here for all future trips. We had a one bedroom apartment which made us feel like we were at home instantly. It was so spacious, had a fully equipped kitchen for 'proper' cooking and great modern decor. We were lucky to have 3 separate balconies so there was always somewhere to catch to catch the beautiful views the lagoon and gardens. Thanks so much for the perfect stay!
