“Peaceful”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 25, 2009

We booked a one bedroom Oasis Villa with our own pool and we were upgraded to a two bedroom and two bathroom unit - one bathroom was allocated to the wife for her own make up sanctuary !! The decor was modern and may have been updated in recent times. There was a large widescreen Plasma TV in the lounge and a CRT TV in the bedroom, a DVD/CD player in the lounge and a VCR in the bedroom. The unit was spacious, well presented, fully featured and clean. The only negative comments would be the dirty soap dish in the shower (I think it was pitted and just needed replacing) and the dirty barbeque by the pool (we didn't intend to use it anyway). The Manager, Alan, was very helpful and offered advice on local restaurants with discounts and some wine vouchers for a yacht club nearby. Our visit was before the peak season started (planned) and we seemed to have the run of the main pool and heated spa, only running into someone else on one occasion. It was a perfect holiday spent by our own pool (quite large and about 1.8 metres deep at the deep end), enjoying the weather, reading books under the palm trees and spending some time in the spa pool in the late evening. I think they were considering improvements to the area surrounding the pool in the unit which would make placing the deck chairs less problematic as this was not flat and was pebbled rather than paved. Perhaps a relook at the fencing also would improve the link between the pool and the covered outside patio so as not to separate it off as it is currently (the units next door look to have had this done) and increase the space as well. We would certainly put this place on our list to consider on our next visit to Palm Cove next year. I see a negative experience from another visitor which surprises us, but perhaps that unit is on the list for refurbishment? We had unit 13 which was anything but unlucky for us. Palm Cove is the place to come to if you like a beautiful beach with lots of choices for dining out and if you come in May as we did you will not be hassled with lots of people and can enjoy the peace, great facilities, and weather. It's paradise and we enjoyed our stay at The Villas, thanks.

This would have to be the worst accommodation I have ever seen. What is pictured on their website is NOTHING like the accommodation we saw - even the manager agreed it was false advertising! His explanation was that not all units are the same and yet when we expressed our dissatisfaction and asked for a refund (as we had paid for two nights up front) we were refused. Villa 107 was smelly, dirty and very, very old. The furniture looked like it was out of the '70s. The lounge had stains on it, the pool was in need of cleaning, the outside fan was coated in black carbon from the passing traffic - need I go on...

After leaving a soggy Sydney we arrive at The Villas Palm Cove to sunshine and a genuine greeting full of warmth.Due to a small issue with a lazy air con unit we were without drama upgraded to a divine villa with private pool. It was without doubt superb and made a wonderful holiday exceptional.
Both of us experienced global adventurers and I growing up in the hotel industry cannot recommend this place highly enough. If you are looking for a romantic tropical getaway stay here!

We stayed at The Villas with our 2 children for a week in a 3 bedroom villa.

The property on which the villas are located is very pleasant with lots of tropical plants around, and the pool is great - very clean and safe for kids and much preferable to swimming in the ocean at this time of year, due to the 'stingers'.

We really liked Palm Cove - it's a quiet resort with a variety of restaurants and accomodation which is close to many of the attractions in the area. There are several places to eat which are child friendly - we recommend Nu Nu on the sea front where we had a great meal and kids have a good choice of healthy meals.

We spent quite a lot of time researching the area and available accomodation on the internet before we booked, and checked out lots of reviews and photos. We booked at this location because it looked to be a good place for families and was an economical option.

Alan (resident manager) offered to book tours for us and was helpful in providing information about the best options for trips out to the reef.

The villa was well equipped with appliances including a washer/dryer, dishwasher and microwave, and there were plenty of pots and pans, cooking utensils, etc.

Overall, we were a bit disappointed with our villa - the appearance of the villa inside differed a lot from the pictures we found on the web. We weren't expecting anything fancy, but we felt that it wasn't as clean as it should be and the soft furnishings were in need of cleaning and/or updating. For example, the curtains were stained and had holes in them, the sofas were very grubby and there was a strange smell when we arrived (we used lots of air freshener!).

Although you will find insects in any tropical climate, we had problems with ants and roaches which took a few days to sort out...there had obviously been a lot of issues with the ants before our arrival, as the pest control guy who came found that a lot of spray had been used everywhere. Once he dealt with the nests, things improved dramatically.

The other reviews of this resort rated it at 4 or 5 stars, so we're not sure if we were just unlucky with the villa we were given or if this is generally the standard of all the accomodation here.

The Villas, Palm Cove.
We stayed here for ten days in November 08. Our villa had two upstairs bedrooms, two bathrooms and lounge/dining/kitchen combo. It had everything we needed for a perfect stay.
The site is a collection of villa around a central pool/barbecue area. The managers, Alan and Madelaine keep the place spotless and went out of their way to make sure everything was to our liking. They organised tours and car hire for as no extra charge.
When the bedroom air conditioner broke down there was no fuss. It was replaced.

All in all we enjoyed our visit at the Villas and would recommend it to those seeking a private haven within easy reach of the Coral Sea!!!!

The Villas Palm Cove is not a luxuriously appointed place from which to base your holiday near Cairns, but is excellent value for money. The beds are very comfortable and all the basics are provided - TV, DVD, microwave oven, dishwasher, washing machine and dryer.

We stayed in a 2 bedroom villa with its own private swimming pool taking up the entire backyard. it is worth the small amount of extra money to stay in one of these villas.

It was only a short walk (10 minutes) to the beach and the restaurant strip. If you prefer to eat at home a BBQ is provided in the grounds of the complex. There is also another swimming pool and heated spa for those unfortunate people who do not have their own private pool.

  • Liked — Own private swimming pool
  • Disliked — Nothing
