“dirty tired and in need of a major makeover”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed September 1, 2010

I knew I was in trouble when I saw the state of the reception area which was dirty, the rooms were tired and grubby, the unsealed terracotta tiled floors a mass of stains from spills, this hotel joins only 1 other in being a property that I refused to stay at in 30 years of 4+ trips a year, it should be avoided at all costs until its made over, SHAME ON QANTAS HOLIDAYS FOR BEING UNAWARE OF THE STATE OF THE PROPERTY

Staff were lovely and very friendly but the whole place needs redecorating and updating- dont think it has been touched for 20 years. Comapred to ther places in the area it was teh same price and nowhere near teh standard you would expect of a Sebel property.

The hotel is in a good location, and has 2 pools. But, like a couple of other reviews stated, the upkeep falls a little short of what a 5 star hotel looks like. One of the pools for instance does not seem to be cleaned that often, with leaves etc in it. The rooms are quite large, with very large balconies, and a mini kitchen on the balcony.

Dinner here was very good, however the service a bit pretentious. Breakfast was extremely over priced, go next door to Cockys for 1/2 the price and a better selection.

One thing that is missing from the hotel is a newsletter or suggestions of what to do for the day. It was a bit overcast and drizzling where we were here, and I imagine it would have been a bit boring for people who did not know the area well.

We found the beds a bit hard, and the hotel a bit noisy with doors banging. It think it was the fire escape and that may have been the staff.

All in all, it was not a bad hotel, and if you can get a cheap room + bfast rate it might be worth it.

Me and my partner had a fantastic stay at this hotel... At the end of a long trip up the coast for the previous couple of weeks the friendly relaxed atmosphere at this place was perfect.

Minor points were...
Be prepared to see lots of ants... huge green ones - a common problem around this area apparently. on arrival they were all over our balcony, a quick call to reception and a man came and sorted it out - I have no complaints, we didn't get them again for the 3 days we were here.

Our room had a louvred door to the balcony which was fixed open... I'm glad for the mozzy net around the bed - it's also a personal thing as to whether or not you want to listen to the ocean whilst you go to sleep - but we didn't get a choice.

All in all we loved our stay at this hotel

Was a fantastic property a few years ago. Now is in need of a refurb, the rooms are very dated and could do with a spruce up, as could some of the facilities.
On several occasions we mentioned to the staff that the spas/jacuzzi's were not working, they were never fixed and the staff did not seem too concerned.
We have stayed in Sebel properties before, but now I would think twice and make sure I look into them before booking.

Based on the reviews posted, we booked the "best" suite available at this property. Needless to say, I was disappointed. The suite was smaller than expected, and definitely in need of cleaning, preferably an update as it was definitely run down. The suite felt incomplete as there was not once piece of art on display - simply blank walls as far as the eye could see.

The desk staff was generally not helpful, and often times rude with the exception of one gentleman named Simon who did everything he could to make up for the hotel's problems.
