“Inspired and delicious food, great service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 17, 2012 via mobile

The food was divine and the service was perfect. The meals were quite large, so we weren't able to finish them. The cocktails were also incredible. All in all a wonderful meal. Highly recommend it if you like interesting and delicious food, but take a good appetite!

“Wonderful food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 17, 2012

Lovely setting on the esplanade at Palm Cove. With an innovative menu for the sophisticated palate, we decided to dive in and were rewarded with a great evening. I opted for the reef fish and my husband ordered the duck which he declared to be magnificent (it was!!!). We shared the fried orange cream for dessert; a wicked little treat to finish. Again, this restaurant worked around my onion allergy.

“Fresh local flavours”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 7, 2012

Beautifully situated just across the road from the beach, Nunu is subtlety decorated, our seating a deep lush long couch corner.

Firstly compliments of the kitchen we were given a deep fried sour dough loaf.

Out of curiosity I started with the - Taste paradise: shaved local heart of palm, melon, lime, local herbs and chilli, $27. Heaven, fantastic flavours, some new to me, a real treat. Greg had the tortellini with duck, equally enjoyed.

Next up I opted for the - Wok fried north Queensland crab with chilli tamarind sauce, sweet pork, greens, rice and white pepper broth, $70, the most expensive main on the menu, the others were around the mid-forties. I was a crab eating virgin so wasn't that sure how to tackle the beast and it is a rather messy job but the flavours were intense and fitted perfectly with eachother and I love tamarind.

Greg has the - Local line caught reef fish (red emperor) with ricotta dumplings, tomato essence, fennel, crispy sage and lemon.

Beautiful desserts all fitting and up to the same fine dining standard. A lovely place, we were impressed. One of those truly memorable meals in a memorable location. Won't forget this one.

Thanks Gavin for your attentive service.

“More please!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 1, 2012

I had come to far north Queensland to watch the eclipse and a friend in Melbourne told me about this restaurant. Coming from Melbourne and loving good food, i was interested but wary. No need to have been a cultural snob by thinking that Melbourne has the best restaurants, as this was a wonderful dining experience, from the the friendliness of the staff and their relaxed manner and the time they take to explain every element of the dish you are about to eat, down to the wonderful combination of flavours and first class ingredients. (I loved the edible flowers!). I had the tasting menu, heart of palm salad, and an oatmeal blini with smoked Barramundi as well as the passion fruit curd and ricotta cannoli for breakfast a few days later. I was satisfied with the quality of all these meals. A tasty and innovative eating experience overall.
