“Exceptional dining and service.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2012 via mobile

We visited Colonies with our three young children in the early evening and were made very welcome, kids meals orders taken quickly and we received good, knowledgable advice on our menu choices resulting in five very happy diners. The food was delicious, fresh and beautifully put together. While it catered seamlessly for kids we would have loved to return on our own with a good bottle of wine. Maybe next time we are up here in paradise...

“Great setting and food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2012 via mobile

Had two evening meals at colonies during a recent stay in Palm Cove with two young children. Booked a table both times as it was school holidays and pretty busy.
Kids and adults food was excellent with plenty of choice and nice that restaurant is BYO.
Also got a corner table with views to the see.
Would definitely recommend.

“Seriously Yum!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2012

Dined here twice during our stay;
First time we shared the seafood platter - BBQ Barra, Bugs, King Prawns, Calamari, Mussels all on a bed of garlic mash.
Second visit we each had the special - Grilled Barra with half a bug, a few prawns again on a bed of mash. Delish!

“You HAVE to try this!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 10, 2012

We had the chateau Briande for two and it was AMAZING!! Tender eye fillet, beautifully cooked, prawns with a gorgeous garlic sauce and small sweet lobster meat. Masses of mash and perfectly cooked vegies. The food, service and ambience at Colonies is second to none, just a wonderful, wonderful dining experience. The deserts are made by the owner (and chefs wife) Nicky, and they are terrific...we had the apple pudding and the white chocolate cheesecake......beautiful taste and presentation. We loved it so much we have booked to go back again tonight!
Thanks to Jodi who made us feel welcome and is a sweetheart, Nicky for her humour and great deserts and to chef who we never met, but mate that chateau briande was just heaven.

“The lazy chef”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 21, 2012

Entree was mussels with a tomato based sauce which was just too sweet. The chef had used sweet chilli sauce which was just lazy. The main course was the barramundi, bug and prawns. The sauce was tasteless the fish was over cooked and dry. Where was the love. The food smacked of a chef who probably can cook but is bored and wants to be a motor mechanic.

$135 later my wife and I left dissapointed and went to ice cream shop to cheer ourselves.
