Kununurra Hotel provided affordable, comfortable accommodation close to the supermarket shopping centre of Kununurra. Our rooms had en-suite bathroom, excellent air-con, small fridges, hospitality trays, comfortable beds. No tissues in the bathroom holder but these were provided on request. Rooms were quiet, situated well away from the rather noisy public bar and beer garden area. Self-service guest laundry was very welcome.
Breakfasts in the dining room were good. We didn't eat dinner there but locals assured us that the evening meals were good.
Transport to and from the airport was provided without charge. Discount was offered to customers with a receipt from another hotel in the same chain, Kimberley Hotels.
Staff were pleasant and helpful. The only downside was a distinct smell of mould in the reception area.

Room Tip: Keep receipts from other hotels in the same chain to get discount. Ask for a room away from the bar...

This is a pleasant, comfortable hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. The service at the attached restaurant was quick and the dish I ordered (grilled barramundi) very good. The hotel is close to the centre of the town and I would certainly stay there again.

Enjoyed the very Australian bar with a good range of Beers and good service , Although the rooms are tired they are priced to that level . The food was great in the restaurant . This Hotel is also walking distance from most things in Kununurra

3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2012

I stayed one night on my way through Kununurra. Having read reviews of every Kununurra accommodation option, I decided on the cheapest room I could get confident in the knowledge that there was nothing that represented good value anywhere in town. Hotel Kununurra was the cheapest option and I got what I paid for ... basic.

Upon arrival, late, I found reception to be polite and friendlly. I found my room and was greeted by my neighbours who were drinking for effect outside their rooms. They seemed to be longer stayers, intoxicated, but friendly enough.

One of them, a very friendly young lady, later knocked on my door and invited herself in "to see how I was liking my room" (nudge nudge wink wink). In days gone by this kind offer might have been better received and may have led to a higher TA rating.

The room was basic, clean but tired, air-conditioned, with a basic clean tired ensuite bathroom. I took the warning and made sure every window and my door were securely locked before bed.

Breakfast was OK. The coffee machine was broken and I don't consider instant coffee powder to be a satisfactory alternative.

Passing through with other places to be, I'd probably stay there again knowing it's the cheapest of the over-priced Kununurra accommodation options available.

Stayed overnight on a work trip. No hot water at night and despite being assured that it was fixed none the next morning.

Staff member was not really interested, (I'm not a plumber was her response).

Rooms are ok, strong smell of disinfectant.

Nice pool area.

Despite requesting an airport pick up was forgotten.

Restaurant was dark and dingy with drinks at the front bar a little pricey. Have since moved across the road to a better similar priced hotel .

Motel located in CBD across the road from shopping centre and food outlets. Motel rooms clean but smelt of smoke, left the window open onto the pool all the time so the room did not smell. Stayed 5 days and found food and drink expensive at hotel. Hotel noisey till late at night at weekends, music and singing can be heard in from most motel rooms. Garden and pool area well mantained. Purchase drinks at hotel bottle department far cheaper than bar prices and sat then sat outside of motel at tables tables provided and had nibbles and drinks . Found all staff helpful but most were very inexperienced. Motel a member of the Kimberley Accommodation chain and offer 10% discount if you stay in their accommdation throughout the Kimberley Region (you have to show them your receipt from the previous motel to obtain the discount).

Room Tip: Quieter rooms would be as far as possible from the Hotel Beer Garden.
