“Beautiful scenery”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 9, 2013

We enjoyed horseback riding and hiking, as well as fishing in Valle California. The yurts were very comfortable and the food was good. Hiking was beautiful. The fishing was good. Bicycling was advertised but we never saw any bikes or were offered this as an activity. The staff was very accommodating. We just wish that the fishing had been better and that the food had been as good as it was in Melimoyu. A lovely and relaxing spot, regardless.

The fishing can be excellent. Head guide, Daniel is one of the best, and Ricardo is an excellent guide also. Both are good instructors, and very good company. The food is really good. Chef Julio is friendly and skilled. It's a very enjoyable place with lots to do.

Room Tip: Yurt #1 offers privacy, but is still very convenient.

From the moment we arrived, it felt as if we were in a fairy tale. We were greeted with big smiles and an amazing welcome package--including a great lunch, before we were wisked away by a charter flight through the mountain range, and finally to a helicopter to our final destination. From the moment we arrived, we were offered a variety of activities on the spot to explore...including the hot tub by the river. My friend and I chose to sit by the hot tub with a glass of wine, while our other friend chose fly fishing. Valle California has gorgeous yurt to sleep in that felt like a five star hotel, yet more cozy, nestled in the woods. It was the best bed I have ever slept in. We went hiking with an amazing guide (who felt like an old friend) to a lake (it was the best day of hiking I have ever experienced), we went horse back riding, and more. The meals were beyond compare.

The Chilean Patagonia is seductively beautiful, but the region located in the Cordillera is absolutely amazing. Valle California is installed in one of the most beautiful regions of the planet. The mountains, fields, rivers, rainforest, glaciers and the light is unique.
The perfect harmony and beauty scenery.
And beside all this has a "Quincho" and 6 "yurts" ( like a hut ) that makes an ordinary human feels the happiest person of the world.
Everything works: the gastronomy, the environments, the organisation, the fly fishing, the trekkings, bike, etc.... and onde of the most special thing of the day: the Hot tub, that remains in the border of the river and where sunset is unforgettable. Just Relax!
I'm sure that I'll go back, as it has a lot to do, to know, to discover.
Thanks to the Staff that is perfect, accurate and affectionate.

We have spend a week between Valle California and Melimoyu Reserve, and it was by far the best vacation I've had, and I have been around the world. The service is completely personalized, very friendly, very attentive, professional, but never pushy or obliging. You feel genuinely welcome. The instructors cater to every skill level on all activities they offer - horseback riding, fly fishing, hiking, kayaking among others. If you are a novice, you will learn the basics and have fun while doing it. If you are a pro, they will push your envelope. The accommodations, while being in the middle of wilderness (no way there but the helicopter), are flawless. Same goes for catering and wine - enjoy world-class gourmet entrees while on a trip to an isolated island.

We spent 4 days in Valle California at Patagonia Sur. It's fantastically beautiful countryside in the mountain valley of Valle California. Reminiscent of the Rocky's in the summer. And, the quality and service of the staff was exceptional. We were able to plan our days with the staff to suit our interests. We enjoyed three excellent meals per day. We will definitely go back!

We had a wonderful fun filled adventure at Patagonia Sur Reserves. We enjoyed the horseback riding and hiking. The downtime in the wood burning hot tub by the river. The guides, and staff people were very kind and accommodating. It is a great place to set around the fireplace before and after the wonderful dinner we all enjoyed. Our yurt was very nice and the bed is so comfy. I hope someday we can come back to this beautiful place that we enjoyed very much.

Thank you for the positive feedback and we are thrilled that you enjoyed our remote corner of Patagonia.
