“What A Great Place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2009

The Lodge Andino is situated about 1-1/2 hours from the Santiago airport and perhaps 2-1/2 hours from Valparaiso (if you are starting or ending a cruise around Cape Horn like we did) in the Andes Mountains. The property which encompasses the Lodge is in the midst of about 40,000 plus acres of private land set aside as a reserve. Hiking, horseback and mtb riding, as well as zip lining, are all available on the property.

The are so many outstanding things I remember about our 3 day stay, including the warmth of everyone (the owners, op mgr Rodrigo Diaz and staff), accomodations, the food, The Lodge caters only to a small number of people so you always feel at home. The meals were always terrific and plentiful but were only surpassed by their deserts which are made close by in their bakery. We all agreed, 'We should have stayed longer.'

The Lodge's web site is www.lodgeandino.cl (not .com) which was the reaon I originally had trouble contacting them to set up reservations. This is an undiscovered gem!

After our recent stay at Lodge Andino, my 21 year old daughter declared it the nicest place she'd ever been (and she's been to fair number of really nice places) and decided it would be the perfect place for a wedding. It is indeed a wonderful place. So close to the hustle and bustle of Santiago and yet as calming and peaceful as the Maipo River that borders this amazing property. We hiked, we rode horses, we took amazing photos of the breathtaking Andes, we relaxed by the pool and perhaps above all, we enjoyed the outstanding meals meticulously prepared by the chef and the wonderful Chilean wines served with them. I imagine that special dietary needs or requests would be considered but we were more than happy to leave our gastronomic fate in the hands of the chef who waited expectantly to be sure that all was to our liking. And it definitely was! At dinner we were joined by the gracious owners Magdalena and Juan Eduardo Oyanadel on the nights they were in residence and always by Rodrigo Diaz, the manager, whose mission seemed to be to make sure that every guest was having the best stay possible. We stayed in one of the cabins that couldn't have been more comfortable. Truly the owners and staff seem to have thought of every detail to ensure that even finicky guests like me would leave wanting to tell everyone about this great find in Cajon del Maipo.
