“Poor food & poor service”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2012

We were recommended this pub as a good place to eat - what a disappointment. I can only think that there must have been a change of management of something. Their website is full of statements of the wonderful menu and hospitable welcome. It couldn't be more different when you actually experience the place. The management need to re-visit their website to remind themselves what they say they provide as it bears no resemblence to reality. We ate in the garden - no plants, just weeds, poorly kept. No play facilities for childen - just broken down old boat rotting in a corner and areas of gravel (no idea what these are for). Service virtually non-existant - you have to work hard to get a smile or even an acknowledgement you're in the pub. I could go on - in short, avoid!

“Why such slow service”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2012

Why is the service here so very slow?
Whilst the food is ok, once you get it, you have waited so very long, you really dont fancy it any more.

“Not good service”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2012

This is a pub/restaurant operated by Hall and Woodhouse (Badger beers). I have eaten at their establishments before and they have always been efficiently operated with good beer and even if the food isn't top quality it is usually good straightforward fare.
We stopped here for an early lunch expecting the same standards as elsewhere but found things somewhat lacking. The building while on the surface very picturesque is somewhat run down with the plenty of signs of neglect. We elected to sit outside (with a dog) and we were consistently ignored by staff who served other tables. This went on over the course of 25 mins at which point we gave up and went to the Ship Inn about 100 meters down the road. I subsequently e-mailed a complaint to Hall & Woodhouse but have yet to receive a reply !
