“Best hotel stay by far!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 5, 2014

Stayed here for a weekend with my husband and was a very pleasant stay. Room was very clean and tidy, restaurant food was brilliant and the service was faultless. Would definitely recommend to family and friends. Thank you for making a weekend away a lovely one.

I visited with my husband, 3 children and mother in law for afternoon tea. We love afternoon tea and have tried a few places in Berkshire.

We booked for 4 o' clock and they were expecting us when we arrived (not always a given!)
Tea is served in a comfortable lounge with lovely views of the garden. Enough guests there to provide some atmosphere, but not too busy. There is a nice terrace but it was a bit chilly so we stayed inside, next to a lovely open fire.

I sent my husband to enquire about a menu after 10 minutes, but to be honest this had more to do with me being gasping for a cup of tea than the service being very slow. I have waited much longer in other venues.
We were served by Teddy, who was very friendly and offered apologies for the delay. He chatted to our children, which made us feel very welcome. It is a child friendly venue - the menu is flexible, providing a children's tea with less fancy sandwiches and brownies/ mini doughnuts instead of more grown up cakes. We ordered milk for the children and they didn't charge us for this.

The tea was delicious - smoked salmon, cucumber and egg sandwiches, fresh scones (very light and served warm with fresh cream) and macaroons, chocolate cakes and lemon tarts. We ordered full afternoon tea for 2, cream tea for one and one children's tea and had more than enough. A patisserie box is provided if you wish to take anything home, which I felt was a nice touch. Needless to say, we didn't have anything left to take home!

We were offered English Breakfast tea or coffee, we all like English Breakfast so we didn't investigate their other tea options.

The lounge and ladies room were very clean and it was nice to find individual cloth hand towels in the ladies, instead of lots of paper towels which invariably end up screwed up on the floor. My little girl sat and admired herself for quite some time at the dressing table!

The staff as I say were lovely and we went for a wander around the grounds before returning to settle our bill. It was a very relaxing, enjoyable experience and I can high recommend it. We will definitely be back!

Stayed here with my work who were holding a sales meeting here. The room was large with a nice bathroom and a comfy bed. The only issue was the TV which was tiny and looked ridiculous in the context of the room. The food was nice and the staff were friendly. The meeting room was good and the staff very helpful. Overall a good stay.

The ground floor of the hotel has been renovated, looks stunning. Food was simple, locally sourced and wholesome. Rooms slightly dated but clean. The hotel is however silent! So quiet I could hear a fellow dinner chew and swallow his food...awkward!

We stayed at the Royal Berkshire on Saturday night and had a very good stay.

Reception were very pleasant and efficient on our arrival, we asked for a quiet room on the top floor and this is what we received. The room was nice, all that you could need for 1 night, the radiator was very powerful and easily heated the room.

We also ate in the Fork restaurant and have posted a separate review for that, but we enjoyed very much our pre-cocktail drinks, dinner and coffee in the lounge.

Breakfast was excellent, the best we've had in a hotel for a long time. If you want fried eggs etc then ask the servers, this was no problem for them. The staff are very good, friendly and provided excellent service, we were very impressed.

The only real problem we had was that the walls in the rooms are not well soundproofed, we asked for a quiet room and ended up hearing our neighbours conversations and television. It was odd that we had neighbours as the hotel was far from highly occupied, and thus lots of other empty rooms...

All in all a very good stay and we would return.

I recently stayed here for business and would highly recommend this hotel, its staff and facilities for business conferences or weddings. The hotel is a 10 - 15 minute drive from Sunningdale or Ascot train stations and set in beautiful grounds. The standard room was large and comfortable with a gorgeous view and came with a decent hair dryer and iron but the toiletries were very basic (soap and shampoo) and did not appear high quality - a surprise in a golf and spa type of hotel. That, and the fact that the hotel is a little worn and had no lift so I had to carry my suitcase up 3 floors, were the reasons I didn't give this a 5 star review. The food was good (but only scrambled eggs for breakfast) and the business lounge had something really special - ice cream, popcorn, sweets, special coffees, fresh juice, a mobile phone charging stand and retro computer games - all free!! The meeting room had a lovely view and we were well looked after by the excellent reception and catering staff. The restaurant manager in particular was very professional and patient.

wow! this hotel has the wow factor, we had our daughter christened and went to the hotel for afternon tea for 20 guests. We used the library room, which was so beautiful and elegant, the food was amazing, lots of pretty cakes and the scones were served warm and were to die for. The staff were fantastic and really thought of everything and we didnt even notice they were there. I would recomend this hotel to anyone who wants a perfect day without having to worry about the stress as they took care of everything. All facilites were well maintained and child friendly.

Room Tip: library was fantastic very clean with amazing views over the garden
