“Slow service, average fish and chips”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 1, 2013 via mobile

On Good Friday went for fish and chips. Steveston has many restaurants along the waterfront and downtown. Sockeye City has a great view and on this day the boardwalk was very busy. The restaurant was busy but not filled. Service was painfully slow - one hour to receive the food, clam chowder, big garden salad and fish and chips; one halibut and one cod all at the same time. The chowder was OK but watery. The fish and chips were average but not as good as we have had there previously.

“good but overpriced food and poor service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 30, 2013

good food but over priced for what you get service is not great and you are not made to feel really welcome. This place is nothing special.

“Excellent food - great service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 29, 2013

There are a lot of choices for dinning at the Steveston waterfront. As a frequent visitor, I've tried them all. The pick of the crop, in my humble opinion, is Sockeye City. Excellent seafood chowder, excellent battered and deep-fried fish. One word of caution: stay away during the busiest hours. For whatever reason, the place seems to plunge into chaos whenever it's more than 80% full.

“Nice atmosphere and good food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 27, 2013

We visit here for each family member's birthday because teenagers love fish and chips. The adults usually try something else on the menu such as the seafood tagliatelle and the risotto. Always consistently tasty but just average portions for the price. Just don't get seated on the lower level if you are lined up with the rear end of the diner above you. Not pleasant and they cannot resist looking down at you and staring. We didn't realize this until after we were served. Otherwise, a nice evening out. They have a rewards card which gives you 5% off and $50 after you receive 600 points.

“Great dinner by the water!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2012

We (four adults and four teens) visited this restaurant for a dinner by the water. Great food (the specials were delicious) and outstanding service. I would recommend it and would return again.
