“Surf's Up at Bahia”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 11, 2013

Spent a week at Bahia surf camp in mid Feb and it was a great week, everything was as advertised. The location is fantastic on a very quite private beach, the accomodation is simple but perfect especially all the hammocks for chilling out. The food was great and plentifull especially all the fresh fruit juices. Beto and Niko looked after us so well and gave great surf tips and ensured a really relaxed and chilled holiday. Basically this place is a fantastic getaway from the madness of Salvador, when you want to get away from it all and surf, this is the place to go.

Hey,

I travel and surf since a couple of years, but it's allways about to surf in crowds, too many people around and at the end of the day not the best relaxed feeling when I come back home. you know..

In Bahiassurfcamp I find it all! it was - I must say - the best trip and camp ever!

The spot is just in front of the bungalows.. almost solitary surf in almost daily good conditions. clean kilometerlong private beach, nice, warm water- no need of wetsuit and turtels comin out of the water to bury they eggs!

The people who work at BSC are super friendly and lively they realize every wish you have. Beto and his surftinstructor crew are very professional in teaching and improving your surf. I still learned a lot! and the beginner courses seemed to enjoy it as me!

The food is just AMAZING -plenty fresh food everyday, the perfect nutriation before between and after surfing - really all what you need, I love the fresh brazilian mangos and pineapple and papaya..the list is just too long :)

all in all a super cool spot, to relax, to surf, to come to my self, a breathtaking place with a lot of spirit!

Beto - I will come back, promissed!!!

obrigado para tudo

Room Tip: All bungalows look very comfortable!

The first time i came here was in 2011, and i found the place awesome, the people here, Beto, the beach, the waves, the camp, the services, food and on top of that the friendly atmosphere that is everywhere.

I ve been there 3 times already and each of them was amazing, and since the first time theres been lots of good changes in the camp, new really cozy rooms, a new deck in front of the sea, and the dinning/breakfast place which is great, and so much nature surrounding all this place.
I think its a really great place, to chill, to surf and to learn from beto who´s an outstanding person and surfer!

thanks for everything!
will be back soon

niko

Thanks to Beto & Nico & other employees it was an amazing stay. Lying in the hammock watching the stars, getting up with a breakfast with lots of fruits and fruit juices, walking along an empty beach lined by palms, surfin (or trying to do so), meeting relaxed people - thats what its all about. Home made food 3 times a day, a nice room and excursions to other beaches and places top that off. Not exactly the the cheapest place I stayed in Brazil, but I Ioved it! All the best from Austria, Chris

I just came back from a few days there and i really enjoyed bahia surf camp! Beto is running something very special here, in a very special place, sorrounded by nature, waves, stars, and a great atmosphere for families, solo travellers, and couples alike.
Many options to chosse to sleep, bed and rooms. The room was big, cleand, ac, and very confortable. The beach is amazing, you can walk literally two hours to each side not crowded at all, just you, some surfers, coconuts and nature. No wonder why turtles go have their eggs there! The place is very clean, the food is home made everyday, and everyday is different, healthy, bahian, and made with love. And you enjoy it with your surfer traveller mates. It is also a perfect star spotting place by nights, and if you feel like going out of camp there many things to visit around and they came arrange them for you. I am a very travelled person and i think this is a great place. Sure will come back! Cant wait!

Beto run's a classy operation. Back in 2008, I learnt to surf at Bahia Surfcamp... so when the chance came up to return... I had to go back (and I VERY rarely go back to a place).

Beto will turn you into a surfer. You can watch the locals at the beach break at the end of the garden... and then head out yourself. Beto will take you to some beautiful beaches and whether it's your first time in the surf, you're heading out for green waves or you want to ride a barrel, Beto will take you to the best places.

It's a great camp, I've always travelled solo there and Bahia Surfcamp seems to attract a great crowd of fun and interesting people... all joined by a love of the surf.

I'd also recommend checking out Salvador... you can try some amazing Bahian food and watch caporeira... then if you want to get involved with trying caporeira yourself back at the camp.

Two final things I love about Bahia Surfcamp are the food which is super and the fact that you pretty much have the beach to yourself.

Finally, catch the right season and there'll be turtles laying and hatching just out front... you can't beat it!

Room Tip: The beachfront rooms are awesome...

This place is just fantastic! It´s very clean and there is always plenty of delicious food. This is so important when you surf during the day and come back exhausted by the effort.

But more to the point - the Team there is also one of the best: Beto is a super surfer who will give you great advice and we were also welcomed by Jose who made our trip to the camp one of the best things we did in Brazil!

I had surfed a few times before but my friend had never been on a surfboard and was also learning to swim (so he was very skeptic) but this was no issue for the Beto team - We both had so much fun and the course was adapted for both of us. There was 8 other surfers when we were there and there was a great vibe.

You have access to the boards all day - and there is a 2 hour surf lesson at 10am 6 days a week. The beach and the line up are right out of the backyard - this camp could not be better placed and it´s got it´s own private beach!

If you want to surf in Salvador (or if you are wondering what to do in salvador) - Go there! Give Beto a call or send him an email - he even came to pick us up!
