Our first choice for an evening meal (Pesto) was totally booked for a private function so, with the rain falling, we sought refuge in this pub. Unlike pubs in the UK, peak time here is apparently late afternoon. When we arrived at 7.30 the place was nearly empty and shortly afterwards we had it to ourselves. The barman said he would shut at the point that takings wouldn't cover his pay. However, this was a good opportunity to sample a wide range of beers and ales from the local micro-brewery. The food is OK (pies or burgers and fries) but nothing special. The beer is good, with a wide variety of styles and a menu which lists strength, hops used and other information but as usual in this part of the world it is served far too cold for the English beer drinker's palate.
