Situated next to the Chinese Settlement, this seemed a little contrived and tizzed up. While the Settlement .showed the determination and hardships of the Chinese settlers, Dudley's cottage seems too modern with too many modern crafts to have any emotional pull. Yes, you can pan for gold but it still feels too trivial to the real thing next door.

We have taken great efforts to restore Dudley's Cottage in consultation with the Historic Places Trust of New Zealand. Its one of the primary aims of the business to celebrate the history of gold mining in Arrowtown and to spread knowledge of the past to visitors but also to demonstrate the fact not all is history and gold is still found in our rivers and hills. Arrowtown has a rich history but is not a "film set" as you claim in another of your reviews. It is alive and active. But you would have had to stop and actually engage to have found this out.
