We drove to Watarrka National park from Uluru setting off about midday. Took about 4 hours. The road is good (there is only one). Did the Kings Canyon Rim Walk early the next morning (3.5 hours) then drove 25 kms to Kathleen Springs. This is an easy (wheel chair accessible) boardwalk going past mid 20th century cattle pens (now disused) and explanations of Aborigine history in this place. At the end of the boardwallk is the Kathleen Spring where, being the only people there at the time, we spent a very quiet half hour contemplating the water, the rich vegetation and birds whilst eating our sandwiches. We're glad we hiked the tiring Rim Walk first and then continued our day with this relaxing walk.
